He's tying the knot with Samson's 'Blue Streak'. It's 1/2 inch dia. I use Blue streak on Blue Streak, now they come in different colors, gold, green and yellow, red white and black mix. It's the same rope dia. You can use the same rope for both the bridge and the climb line.

that Blake's hitch seems to work better under high sap conditions,,,,,,got left hanging a few times when Taut Line hitch seized up.....

Left hanging on a Taut line? Best to always have a spare unhitched prussik available, but if you go torped - that's tough.

I only use this knot when I'm tied in at the top of the tree, to swing from branch to branch. Then use my lanyard to hold me in place. Then after I'm done with my cuts in a tree I repel down the tree with this knot.
