A rock musician, myself, I was only introduce to "Poppy" very recently. I think the first song, that I heard, was "Concrete". My initial reaction was like "WTF am I listening to!? Nu-metal? Industrial Rock? 70's hippie pop? Kpop/Jpop?". It was very refreshing and I absolutely fell in love with her music almost immediately! I love the genre bending. The use of tension building and release after the bridge in "I Disagree" was spot on and catchy/orgasmic. One of her other songs uses tension throughout the entrie song, I think intentionally, and it never releases... even the end just leaves you hanging like "WTF? That's it?" But I like that originality and that it creates an emotional response. As an ad: I got "Queen" vibes from "Concrete" as well. Musical minds think alike.

not sure if you noticed, but ALL of the songs on this album are connected! the 'bury me six feet deep' part of concrete, the chorus of i disagree, & the 'you can be anyone you want to be' part of fill the crown appear on don't go outside. if you listen to bloodmoney live, it uses the same beat track as anything like me, which also appears at the end of don't go outside (the 'ahhs' share the same melody as the ones in the breakdown of anything like me). PLUS sit/stay, bite your teeth, sick of the sun, & don't go outside transition into each other. the only stand out track/the only track that isn't connected is 'nothing i need' which i think is interesting but meaningful

When you said “that’s like Marilyn Manson” is right when his uncredited background vocals come in 😂 he added some background vocals and direction in a few places

you still need to listen to the deluxe version! imo the songs actually add to the album and the ending 'don't ask' doesn't take away from 'don't go outside'.

The beginning of "Sick of the Sun" reminds me of the opening guitar chords of Louis Tomlinson's "We Made It," which in turn sounds like the start of Bowie's "Space Oddity."

The thing you said about a person being three different people, Halsey said the same when she released her album manic, it was something like this : "There's an ancient saying that you have three faces, the first one you broadcast to the world, the second you show to those closest to you, and the last one you never show to anyone. The first one is Halsey, the second is Ashley, but the is a third that exists in the cracks between the two, the most carnal, uninhabited explicit flash of color hiding in the center of my chest. I am Halsey, Ashley and I'm offering you a glimpse of that third face..." ps. Sorry, if I made any mistakes, English it's not my first language.

I'm typically a Radiohead (or at least Tame Impala) high-art rock type, but your face at about 5:57 'til the ending is me - and I'm sure a million others - hearing the "Turn me into a street" outro chorus for the first time. Nothing but smiles, grooves and nods. Unapologetic indeed. Well done, Poppy!
