Blane Chocklett swings by SO World Headquarters and cooks up his T-Bone musky fly. The T-Bone has a huge profile and a great "kick" that make it perfect for big ambush predators like Musky. More importantly, Blane demonstrates the use of articulated shanks and flex tubing, both of which are really pushing the boundaries of what's possible in fly design. Great stuff Blane!
Looking for hard to find materials to tie Blane's T-Bone? Give Schultz Outfitters a call (734-544-1761). If you're ever in the Ypsilanti, MI area be sure to stop by and check out our original Bar Flies tying event. Always the first. Still the best. If you can't make it, be on the lookout for more tying videos shortly.

Excellent video and pattern. Note: recipe at the end lists “rear shank 40mm and middle shank 28mm.” I tied this fly and could easily get the two pink bodies on the 40mm rear shank (or “middle body”), but getting two pink bodies and the head on the 28mm front shank was tough. Watched the video more closely and learned the recipe was WRONG. Bottom line: use 28mm shank with two pink bodies for middle body between rear hook and 40mm front shank. Use the 40mm shank for the front with two pink bodies and the head. Works beautifully. Thanks.

Is there a design reason for the hook being on the back? Any thoughts on fly size to hook ratio? Would this work with the hook in front and a stinger hook? Not questioning any of this just curious because I see some designs that maintain front hook placement because of fish attacking head first. Just curious. Super awesome fly!!

Sounds like you are questioning. Good question, btw.

To note: To get a lure of fly to turn, and remain sideways, give slack by pushing rod tip back towards the bait, at the end of a strip or twitch.

@bcart3r

+firebirder94 2/0 b10s works well have landed big fish on that hook pretty sure he is using like a 4/0 heavy gauge round bend worm hook or something similar..

agreed on the round bend worm style hook--probably a Partridge Predator X or something very similar.

That's a great fly and a great video. But for goodness sake, what's the point of all that asinine drumming and noise, rather than a grown-up commentary from a fly master craftsman? Up-ticked, but pleeeeeease.
