Blaser - a short documentary on Dave Blase, the cyclist who won the 1962 Little 500.

In 1962, Phi Kappa Psi won the Little 500 race with the help of Dave Blase. Blase was the inspiration for the hit movie Breaking Away in 1979. This video is an interview with Dave.

In 1962 I was in the 7th grade and riding my bike to school. In 1972 I decided to ride a bicycle from my current home on the west coast near San Francisco to Saugus, my birthplace just a few miles from Boston. Life's greatest achievements can come unplanned and unfold moment by moment. Weighing in at 135 pounds anything athletic always seemed beyond consideration. Little did I know, all I needed to do is lift one foot, while pushing the other down. Your story and the movie brought me to tears. It is sad how we can minimize our potential. THANKS Dave.
