I'm one of those, since I never heard of Blaster Master until Sophia was released as a character in Super Mario Bros. Crossover. Then I played the game on Wii U VC. :3

It was amazing what Nintendo could do with such a limited midi sound in some of their games. They really pushed the limits of that system and then pushed a bit more :D

Naoki Kodaka and a couple of hand picked hackers (before hackers were a thing) designed the game to use a channel not normally reserved for music, but for other parts of the game, a channel which had FAR more programability, and could sound any way they wanted, which the other channels just couldnt do. This is perhaps why NO retro games that employ NES sound technology sound as good as this. NOBODY ever tries what Naoki or his buds did. 8 bit versions of songs created by fans also never use that channel, either. None of them realise that 8 bit can sound so mucm more versatile than any of them fathom!

@@michaelm5405 okay bro, you may need to calm down on the "NO ONE CAN DO IT BETTER" stuff. Thanks for the history lesson and all, but this is just mediocre compared to the NES/GB tracks i listen to regularily

Anybody else just stand there in the NES days to hear the song play out? 0:19 That bassline is so reminiscent of Steve Harris from Iron Maiden Pure awesome
