Sand Land comes from the mind of Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama, and despite the manga existing for over 20 years, it's never received a video game until now. Its eponymous video game debut is an open-world action RPG featuring an original story, and after fans got to try a recent public demo, we traveled to Bandai Namco to play never-before-seen sections of the game. The manga is actually only one volume! Definitely a short and very fun read. Only 14 chapters in total!

i just assumed everyone who liked dragonball read sandland in shonen jump in 2003 like I did. Glad this IP is getting some love.

I had missed feelings on the demo. Liked the characters, vehicle combat and setting. Didn't like how most of the activities are just random scatterings of enemies that don't seem to drop loot or XP (although the latter may have been locked for demo). Fights seemed a bit easy but if they made them tankier the fights would probably devolving into watching health bars go down. There was some pretty cool hidden areas like the ruin hidden by a quicksand whirlpool. Something that might be a deal breaker is how much the characters constantly chatter. It's not badly written dialogue, I like it alot, it's just a constant repetitive barrage. I heard the line about the body being made of 60% water 3 times in a row one after the other. I hope they at least have a setting to increase a cooldown between the lines. It's not as bad in combat as sometimes they're useful suggestions, telegraphing weakened enemy states or just cheering you on but in the open world they talk way too constantly.

It reminded me a lot of the Mad Max game that came out in 2015. Like apart from the setting I mean. The 'checklist' activities and the simple dungeons and vehicle combat I thought that game was pretty good, but I can only take so many of the 'ubisoft' formula open world games. I wanna play it for Mr Toriyama but I'll wait for a sale

Look at the map guide in the demo. There is going to be tons of side content. They hid it on the map but the icon menu that tells you what they all mean shows them all.

@@Blueslyfox I know and I activated the radio tower to reveal all the content I could access however based on what was in the demo it was still very lackluster. 5 ruins filled with scorpions with a chest filled with B-grade metal isn't exactly riveting or innovative. It's Ubisoft meh-tier. Hopefully this is because it's a demo and full release has more variety and better quality side content but as it stands it's not impressing.

Its a shame the demo should have been called a tech test or Alpha as it was just a way to show off the games elements without giving away any story im super hyped as Mad max was alot of fun and this game seems to take elements from both that game and other Tank control games and the ability to change vehicles on the fly is soooo dope @@PlebNC

@@PlebNC Well that wasn't the only things on the list and ofc it being a demo we dont get to see much. Forrest land is literally another land mass that you get 30 hours into the game. Not to mention all the vehicles we have seen so far that we didnt get access to. We didnt get to do any actual side quests or missions.
