Man I never get tired of this! I wish they would bring this back! Instead of how they do Smack URL and other freestyle battles where it’s all accapella, I think it would be interesting to see battle rappers go off the top with beats they don’t know what’s being thrown at them! I was hyped when this came on TV. Nobody i knew seen a battle on the big screen or anywhere outside of us in the park. Even though Idea bodied alot of these guys, it felt like a set up. On other version of this battle, they used different beats but the same lyrics. smh.

Yeah I had this DVD. It was poorly organized and presented. Venue prob wasn't right either. They shoulda had mics in the crowd cuz the audience was supposed to be judging but you can't hear em. On top of that HBO put in fake crowd noise which sounds super fake and calls the results into question. also the Dj/sound fucked up like when RK battled eyedea and the shit just cut off. [He got destroyed but credit to him that he dealt with the technical difficulties without bitching. Then they got the beat back on for eyedea (RIP) FWIW RK took the loss like a man] But EOTD it was some real battle exposure on TV so we took what we could get. Emceebattles.com was pretty much all we had media wise.

I remember the different beats. I wasn't able to see this on tv so I downloaded the individual battles from Napster as mp3s. I believe later on they changed the instrumentals because they didn't have rights to the original ones to be sold on a recording platform (VHS, DVD, etc.)
