9:03 i played a raynor game some time ago and lost it. At the end of the game, i had top kills, assists, damage, siege and soak. And the 2-7 sonya on our team which, remind you, was worse than me IN EVERY STAT had the audacity to flame me for losing lol. I know stats aren't everything but if i have every single one my team is doing something wrong

WHile the percentage points on Grill and Kill do sound like a lot, burning oil does barely more damage than Blaze's AA. So it really isn't a great boost dmg-wise. What might matter more is the increased burn duration since Blaze gets more healing from standing in oil longer, so there might be a niche use case for that at least.

I disagree. Playing Blaze is about rapidly dealing small amounts of AoE so the increase is not so obvious. Untalented W on lvl 16: 2.5/0.3*30 ~= 240 damage. With W quest completed: 5/0.3*30*1.45 ~= 696 damage (AoE). It synergises with Fuel Leak on 7 as well. Of course to make someone stand in the oil for full 5 secs is the biggest issue. This talent is good vs. melee heroes, provides better poke and zoning against ranged and it is a great improvement for siege, mercs and laning.

@@honza2447 Burning oil is not good zoning. Unignited oil is. If you just walk through it, burning oil does negligible damage. You deal 700/5=140 dps vs 240/2.5 = 96 dps untalented. At level 20, Blaze's AAs deal 120 damage. You hardly ever ignite oil for damage, only if you need the healing. Against melees and for zoning, you simply toss your oil and leave it there. The damage is basically irrelevant.

@@moor532 If we are talking exact DPS, on lvl 20 quested W does 1/0.3*51=170 dps (untalented 117). In the video you can see how often Fan is actually able to land AA on heroes in comparison to dealing damage with burning oil. The time enemies can spend standing in it can be seen at 12:50 or on BW at 14:13. But it does not matter - you are not exchanging AA for this talent. It is still there. Burning oil is no Jaina blizzard alright, but Blaze is a tank not a single target assassin. His role is to disrupt, weaken and put a strain on enemy healer. This talent helps doing it. I repeat - that damage increase is not a single target damage. On the contrary, it increases damage that can be dished over large area. And again: Blaze is about rapidly dealing small amounts of AoE. Those "irrelevant" damage numbers add up pretty quickly.

@@honza2447 I just copied your numbers and misread them as lvl 20 values, my bad. However, my argument remains the same. It is irrelevant damage. I didn't bring up his AA dmg to say "just AA them more", that would int your positioning. I just wanted to give a reference point. Blaze standing there and just AAing you isn't really threatening dmg. And neither is Grill and Kill. I would also strongly challenge your claim that Blaze is about "rapidly dealing small amounts of AoE". He is all about massive AoE slows and AoE stuns and the fact that Bunker is broken (and his fantastic waveclear but we're talking teamfights atm, so). It is also not the tank's job to put a strain on the enemy healer. That's your DPS's job if you playing a poke comp. A tank's job is scouting, peeling, engaging, and taking dmg for your team if neccessary. If you constantly throw W-Q you're running oom faster than the enemy healer. It also makes you worse at peeling and engaging. As I said in my initial comment, Grill and Kill is maybe relevant for making you more tanky. Mayyyyyyybe for having burning oil at a flank position but you could also stand there then. For checking the bush you can just use Q or W individually. And lastly on your point about the numbers adding up quickly. This is the definition of fake damage. Might look good on the stats screen but if it doesn't help you get a kill or win a fight, what's the point.

@@moor532 We are probably having different playstyles. I still think that the damage increase is substantial. It is not a life threatening damage and never will be - Blaze is a tank. No argue about tanks job but I am talking about Blaze's role in teamfights. The oil burn weakens the target making it easier for your teammates to go for a kill. It forces enemy healer to divide his attention and healing (puts a strain on him). Squishies in fire have to react unless they want to lose HP (significant amounts for someone like Hanzo, Tracer or Malf). This is also the zoning I was talking about earlier. I am not sure about the whole "fake" damage thing. ANY damage that does not kill is "fake". If we stay at Blaze though: Pyromania, Oil, Combustion even his AA are by your definition fake. But all of these stack. I am no GM but I know this: If you do not use everything you have, you will lose to someone who does. Blaze should do AoE slows and AoE stuns as you said but he should also deal all the damage that he can. Otherwise he is not using everything he has.

Actually the bigger reason to take the dings on 13 is for the self sustain. After completing the quest your oil lasts longer and you get way more healing. You can practically heal up from zero in between engages really fast. Yeah, more damage, but it’s mostly incremental.

btw grill and kill triples damage of fire theoretically. To basic 100% it adds 45% and then after quest done it doubles it so its 145%*2= 290%. Pretty serious for guys like Artanis who relies on just staying on the point and trying to AA shit out of you

Remember Artanis takes half damage from fire and has a shield that is excellent against chip damage.
