It's debatable.Everybody who knows Mk Lore will tell you that the only way to defeat Onaga is destroying the Kamidogus.But the thing is that the Kamidogus cannot be destroyed, they are INDESTRUCTABLE objects.The only Mk Character who managed to destroy the Kamidogus canonically was Shujinko with the combined powerscale of the entire MK Roster.We don't know whether Blaze Shao Kahn can destroy the Kamidogus or not we can only speculate but speculation isn't enough so i'm sticking with Onaga as the winner.

What’s ironic is people get REALLY confused with shao Kahn…he can be either really weak or extremely powerful. He started off as an advisor to Onaga in which shao Kahn was no match to Onaga but to be fair,shao Kahn was a weakling and it’s before he became emperor. Sure he had to poison Onaga shao Kahn was a weakling back then but as he took on emperor status he had countless battles absorbed countless souls and also merged many realms including Edenia in the cannon lore all of this individually made him stronger but the combined things made him far strong w as emperor shao Kahn during the events of mk1-3 than he ever was as onagas advisor…by mk3 he truly reached his peak as emperor in power by absorbing all earth realms souls in mk 3 or the end of mk9. At this point shao kahn was a lot stronger than he just was before doing this in mk3 and mk2…by this point emperor shao Kahn was way stronger and beyond anything the weak version of himself ever could’ve hoped to be when he served Onaga and had to poison him. Shao Kahn grew much stronger after onagas death and shao Kahn as emperor in his peak surpassed him…however Onaga returned from death in deception and he knew he couldn’t defeat shaonkahn as he was anymore due t the emperor (shao Kahn) having grown much stronger than when he poisoned Onaga…Onaga knew this and in an effort to return unmatched by shao Kahn or shinnok or anyone he gathered all the kamidogu whicu was the source of his invulnerability and power shown in deceptions intro…some ppl argue saying he didn’t have it at the time but anyone who follows the lore knows for fact he did. Onaga returned from death having already acquired all the kamidogu with this he was unmatched by shao Kahn once again…Shao Kahn was also aware of onagas return and he was weakened after his mk3 defeat and stayed hiding until he regained his strength.. by Armageddon Onaga was defeated and I think it is obvious he did become the strongest villain at that point…my only complaint about Onaga is that this never meant Onaga was naturally that powerful…in other words Onaga was never that poweful as a being and only was this poweful due to possession of kamidogu and without it he reverted back to his original battle power which is HIS OWN TRUE power. It’s just annoying bcuz ppl need to realize the kamidogus power is what field him and it’s not like he is naturally thst poweful as Shinnok is as en elder god or kronica as a titan by nature he became thst powerful similarly to shao Kahn witj blazes power and Shang tsung did with the crown. A lot of ppl can accept Shang tsung is t naturally as powerful without that crown but most ppl don’t wanna accept most of onagas power in deception was all the kamidogu. Once he lost that in Armageddon he was insanely weaker and shao Kahn proved that his own time as being emperor having gotten a lot stronger since he had to poison Onaga only proved shao Kahn can now defeat him in a fight as he did… also Onaga never feared shaonkahn but he did fear shinnok and said himself that he would defeat shao Kahn defeat blaze and only THEN would he go after shinnok after obtaining blazes power. Onaga said if shinnoks plans go through to regain his power Onaga himself would be amongst the dead. Onaga agreed to servitude to shinnok and some say he did only ro escspe netherrealm and sure he did but it doesn’t change the fact Onaga knew he couldn’t defeat shinnok right then and there bcuz Onaga is a villain if he can tank your attacks and defeat you directly he most certainly will that he didn’t try to and later stated about killing blaze getting his power and then going after sninnok only implied he is weaker than him but even in mk onslaught it’s shown shao Kahn himself desires to be wher shinnok is ,he wishes to have sjinnoks power and become an elder god and allied with shijnok but quan chi already mentioned to shinnok that if shinnok regains his full power shao Kahn would be powerless to stop him meaning he wouldn’t stand a chance prly anymore than when Shang Tsung with the crown killed shao Kahn

so I can explain so It really is a close fight onaga would probably have the upper hand and beat the crap out of shao Kahn but once shao Kahn can officially tap into his full power on top of blazes he would just barely win because he did essentially become the one being when he got the power of blaze but if it was onaga kamidogu and amped up by shinnok s amulets I’d say he takes the dub could go anyway but if this is base we are talking about onaga wins low-mid difficulty

Onaga wit the kamidogu is extremely powerful but without the kamidogu he is weak and weaker than both an already weakened shinnok and weakened shao Kahn if we take in account that they’re all in weakened states as they were in Armageddon. Onaga feared shinnok and believed he could defeat both shao Kahn and blaze but not shinnok not until Onaga squired blazes power…. But yeah on his own Onaga isn’t thst strong and that’s already proven in Armageddon with his presence cowering on the inside to shinnok and dying at shao Kahn’s hands. Perhaps not cowering howeber Onaga was obviously worried about shinnok he directly said that much… shao Kahn alone as he was defeated and killed Onaga so it wouldn’t even be battle with blaze shao Kahn and normal Onaga as normal Onaga was already killed by normal shao Kahn. Blaze shao Kahn slaughter base onaga without the kamidogu if normal Kahn did it. Shinnok as an elder god for fact wa stated to be able to kill a base Onaga at the very least. The onsgs seen in deception being all powerful he had the kamidogu he is NOT THAT powerful on his own! That’s what ppl don’t understand it’s not that hard to figure out he had the power of ALL THE REALMS so yes he is going to be unstoppable and anyone who did have that power even Shang Tsung would’ve been the same I mean he was even shown to be just that in mk11 soooo Onaga being that strong due to the fact he has kamidogu wasn’t impressive in itself considering kamidogu is mostly what is fueling him not his own power.
