As someone who grew up with the original, I'm extremely impressed with the definitive edition. Its not perfect, the original definitely has aspects that were better, but everything just looks so damn good. Its so jarring when I switch to GTA 5 because Vice City's colors really pop and look absolutely gorgeous, especially during sunset/night with all the neon lights. Honestly though, you can't go wrong with either version of Vice city, they both have their own charm.

The facial expressions in the remastered somehow worse than the 20 years old game. Look closely at Tommy's expressions in 9:10 and you'll see what I mean. His eyes were moving in the original version, making his facial expresions more realistic while it were fixed awkwardly in place in the remastered. And his jean is somehow look more realistic and detailed in the original.

To be fair, they actually did a great job. Let's remember that this is a small team of under 25 employees that had to port 3 games to a different engine. Just recreating thousands of textures from scratch is a huge job, but they also added paralax interiors to every building and improved on many aspects that the originals were missing. People were angry because they probably were expecting a full remake similar to the first Mafia game, because I don't think anyone is that butthurt that you shoot a window on a car and the wheel pops off.

They will never accept the fact that VC DE is actually amazing and the only good one out of the trilogy, as it should be. The radio being so HQ is insane. SA tho is absolute trash which makes me happy that even the devs know its place. At least the VC ped models are close to the original but those ones from SA are straight up 10 minute creations. Misinformation. They didn't redo textures from scratch. They used an ai enhancer. Not only that but they built this off of their own mobile port of vice city not the og. And you can tell the ai did the work because of some of the strange facial expressions and body proportions

I think that the big mistake of this definite edition was putting San Andreas into too. I found GTA III and Vice City a good remastered. But the San Andreas one nope.

Nah Vice City is not a good remaster at all. It's an insult. GTA III isn't bad, but the physics need some severe tweaking.

I’m not upset with the game. It’s just a remaster, not a remake. Which is what I think everyone’s confused about. People compared this to what capcom did with re2/3. Altho, those were full blown game remakes. This is just a remastered with some added new features and touch up work. Not impressed by all mean, but not disappointed.

I waited until the game had a 50% price drop because of everyone whinning and I don't even know why, it wasn't even that bad. As someone who beat the game a million times and still once every year or 2 , I will always play this one from now on. Its not a great remake like Mafia was but its still way better then the original imo.

I think they good with the definitive edition. They basically fixed and improved what they could without changing the core game. It's the same game just looks better with added little details that make more sense imo. Better save system etc, etc.. They basically added all the obvious things they should have. Game got panned because people were expecting a major overhail and it did get that in ways on just basic things that definately needed an upgrade. I think they went into it with that mindset.
