The Sabrent 1 TB NVme SSD gives me 1400 write and 2400 read using this Wavlink so you are right that a new SSD will delivery better performance. I'm going to test the Sabrent NVMe t-3 enclosure when I get it. It's doesn't use any tools. The Wavlink heatsink is a lot of trouble to remove. This enclosure is a lot cheaper in the U.S. Beware of Wavlink as their customer service is poor. They are located in China so good luck getting warranty repairs. China is about a 12 hour time difference from the U.S. so it would be difficult to call them. My questions to them through Amazon were unacceptable when they answered them.

I have this with a Crucial P5 1TB. I replaced both this enclosure and had Crucial send me a new NVMe. I only get around 950 mb/s read and write on any Mac I have , including the M1 MacBook Air. This enclosure is definitely not recommended for Mac! I have it mounted with a heat sink and without the plastic cover for heat dissipation. Update, I swapped the P5 out for a WD SN850 V4.0 SSD. The read speeds are at or above 2400, yet write speeds are only slightly higher around 1050-1100. I did see this Wavlink with a 980 Samsung and SN 750 which came out with 2400 both read and write. Like other brands these TB3 enclosures are so darn picky to get the W/R speeds as expected.

The screw you complained about: my (just arrived from China today) UTE02 came with that slotted part you thought would be better. It is also shown in the instructions. I wonder if they watched your vid and took your suggestion.

@14:56 that bend doesn't look right, did they forget to include the bushing?
@camerongray15153 жыл бұрын
The bend is more just because I'm using a double sided SSD that's technically too thick, it doesn't happen with a single sided one (although the only single sided one I have is SATA so isn't compatible)

Nice screwdriver! You sure have the fast drives 😀💪👍 I got a not so fast one for my Raspberry Pi, being careful to get the SATA not the NVME so it would work.

People have. There's a video here on KZbin of someone using the Wavlink UTE02 for an eGPU for their 2019 MacBook Pro 16-inch Intel-based laptop. Works great.

Hi Cameron, i’ve already purchase ute02, insert an adata sx8200 512gb in it, this drive was from my another usb 3.1 nvme enclosure, and this ute02 plugged to my caldigit ts3 thunderbolt 3 port, i run blackmagic disk speed test and it’s just got 700-800 mbps read&write, why this enclosure causing the speed just so low? In Adata specs sx8200 capable of 2000-ish mbps read/write speed. Please share your thought & instruction if any for me retain it’s full potential speed, thank you.

Interesting, at this point I've basically lost track of the USB naming!
@fluffyfloof92673 жыл бұрын
@@camerongray1515 that's not too hard to remember - currently, there're only 3 steps of USB 3 - good old 5gig, 10gig, and double 10gig = 20gig. 5gig is simply 3.2, some add the Gen1 (1st generation of USB 3). Then follows the next generation Gen2, that's 10gig. And well, 20gig is Gen2 by 2, or Gen2x2. There's also the SuperSpeed nomenclature, which carries the bitrate in the name and logo, like SuperSpeed 10 / SS 10. The naming scheme is based on evolution - higher numbers = higher performance = more betterer.

My laptop has Thunderbolt 4, compatible with this enclosure?

Yes, it will work. Thunderbolt 4 has backward compatibility with Thunderbolt 3.

Why is the recording speed so low?
@camerongray15152 жыл бұрын
This seems to just be due to a problem with the SSD I was using, not the enclosure

You should find the generic version of this item. Wavlink does not create products they just buy generic products, slap their name on it and charge double the msrp of the original item.
