Dreams isn't a replacement for LBP because it's a different kind of experience. LBP is a social sandbox, with great 2.5D platforming and a fully customisable character, with a physical presence in the world as opposed to the Imp, who is essentially just a cursor. Dreams just doesn't provide this experience, so both can definitely coexist.

Honestly, As a diehard fan of the series, I would actually PREFER LBP4 to be the last LBP Game I think Create Mode in its current state is really darn good, and all that I really want from an LBP4 is just ironing out the bugs. LBP3's failure seems like a shoddy ending to the series, so a final game to wrap things up and give us a satisfying conclusion seems like a good way to go. If anything, at least we'll have Restiched

Look I have some of the money removed stuff but not much. Look I have been in and out with the franchise and would honestly be ok with an lbp5 given they give us the standard time where just dlc is added. Some minor conveniences to make editing levels easier might help, and possible new logic pieces could be costume sensors, emotion sensors, and even trigger regions. I think LBP4 should focus on doing the most with what it has, rather than focusing on the new. You don't even need too many new characters. Just do more with what you already have.

I see people talk about LBP4 a lot. But what would people want it to actually be? You talk about liking LBPs simplicity and I agree - I almost think it got too complicated as instalments went on with the addition of so many new features. So what do you want? Like a hard reset? New engine, back to basics? Or do you want full 3D creation?
@BlazingVictini223 жыл бұрын
I don't know if full 3D creation or going back to basics is what people really want out of a new LBP title, that's obviously going to depend on who you ask, but I don't think doing that is really necessary. The way I see it, we just want a new game that builds off of LBP3, maybe do without the backwards compatible levels and start fresh on a new engine and new server. We want a game that's actively supported again, something that would breathe new life into the LBP community. Personally, all I want in a new LBP game is for it to be less buggy, especially on launch. LBP3 had potential to be the best LittleBigPlanet game to date, it added so many great things! Literally the only part of that game that killed it for me (and most of the community) were the profile corruptions, load times and broken online multiplayer. Heck, I'd be satisfied with an LBP3 Remastered if it fixed those issues & maybe brought in continued DLC support!
@ElliotFW3 жыл бұрын
I'm currently working on a pitch for LBP4 with my friend (just for fun) and the key points are: -More mechanical depth in the form of new powerups and new functionality for existing ones. For example, the ability to tap circle to quick-swap between the 2 last equipped Sackpocket powerups and a "Zipshot target" material property, which allows Sackboy to zip straight to a material with the grappling hook. Currently making a level built around this in LBP3 called "Zip and Switch: Orbital", which should be published soon. -More social sandbox features, such as a music player for unlocked music tracks that can be used anywhere, including the Pod and create mode. -More quality of life improvements, such as a quick-text wheel allowing the player to instantly send preset and custom text chat messages instead of having to type them. -More customisation, such as Sackbot animation styles as a costume piece for Sackboy. Essentially, my idea of LBP4 would be to add depth to improve what makes LBP fun without overcomplicating it.
@BlazingVictini223 жыл бұрын
@Mini567 People often ask for remasters of the older PS3 games and idk, I don't really get it. Would you just want to play the story mode levels again? If that's the case, those story modes could be released as DLC for a future LBP game (Sort of how LBP Hub was supposedly going to work) I actually think it would be really neat if they remastered the LBP PSP / LBP Vita levels that way! :)
@yorkney87523 жыл бұрын
Me I just want new features for existing logic, like: -player detector can detect only the 1st or 2nd or 3rd or 4th player (in options) , like in lbp vita -a split screen mode on local multiplayer, And that online players can each have their own screen without having a versus level -A motion recorder usable with the left stick -Add the touchpad key to the controlinator -Sackbots can swim in any behavior -A 3D mode -More camera settings

Normally, I would totally agree with you, but #savelbp might actually be the saving grace for this video game series. Now that Sony, sumo digital, media molecule, and any other potential future lbp devs have solid proof that lbp is still loved and wanted, they are probably more willing to push, market, and create an lbp4. Like you said before, mod nation racers and lbp aren't the same games, unlike Mod Nation, lbp already has a MASSIVE fan base full of active and non-active members that would be willing to purchase another Little Big Planet installment. I think that with the most recent showcase of fan interest in this series, an LBP4 is way more likely than before. And also, SABA and Ultimate Sackboy were both created before savelbp became a thing, so it is entirely likely that now Sony will be willing to go back to sackboy's roots

@@MythosNine I'm not saying LBP is a kids game. It's E for everyone. My point is that Dreams is WAY more complex than LBP. LBP is mostly targeted towards kids as seeing the advertisement for LBP3. I think a great last hurrah for LBP as a series would be like, a conglomerate LBP game. All 3 games and all of their DLC in one. Playable from start to finish, LBP 1 to 3. All previous UGC available, but also some expansion. Maybe even new stuff to incentivize people to wanna replay all the old stuff. It’d have to be polished up tho, no complete failure like LBP 3 had, patch any game breaking issues. Hell, maybe even add an option for LBP 1 to be voice acted.

I agree with pretty much everything you said here. Little Big Planet was my whole childhood. I remember in fourth grade literally everyday j would come home, play LBP2, eat dinner, play some more, do my homework, play some more, and then go to bed. It makes me so upset that the last game was released close to a decade ago. If Sony wants to market Dreams as sort of the replacement for the create aspect of LBP, then Jesus Christ they need to actually market it. There is still so many people that have no idea what Dreams is or that it even exists. I personally love Dreams. The create mode is a bit too complex for my small brain but I still have fun messing around with stuff other people have made. It just makes me so upset that the player base is a fraction of what it used to be (Google it. it's sad). Great video! it's a crime you don't have more views and subscribers.

I think a big reason we haven’t seen a new LBP game is the fact it would be very hard to really innovate the formula at this point. All three of the main line games saw jumps in options and creative tools. Just think how primitive the vehicles of LBP one driven by two motor bolts and a three way switch look compared to what you can make in LBP2. Even the third game offered massive upgrades in what you could do compared to the second, but it in may respects was the limits of what they could do and some things felt redundant. I’m not sure what you could add and still have the game feel like a main line LBP game and also not feel redundant or like a basically gimped dreams.

This may be a controversial opinion, but... I really hope that the next LittleBigPlanet game (If there is one, of course) Is made by Sumo Digital. Sumo was treated unfairly with LittleBigPlanet 3. They had to develop the game for two consoles simultaneously, which probably split the development team, while working with Media Molecule’s code (Who knows what state that was in) and finish the game all in time for a holiday deadline. Sumo respected the LittleBigPlanet community, and they did their best with the game in the time that they had. If Sumo were allowed more time to work on the game, it definitely would’ve turned out fantastic. They’re capable of handling a new LittleBigPlanet game. Anyway, that said, fantastic video Victini.

I think you're still misunderstanding. There's simply no reason to have Little Big planet 4... It makes much more sense to make him his own unique franchise as a platformer. Dreams is the ultimate game creations that allows you to make any Little Big planet level and more with little compromise. LittleBigPlanet gives off the sense that it's a game creation but by changing the name to sackboy it shows that it's an independently that focuses on a character and not a fabricated world from a game creation toolkit. There's just no good reason to make another Little Big planet game when they're already focusing so hard on dreams which is an extreme effort. The technology present in dreams is unprecedented with something similar to Ray tracing and everything bring rendered as flakes running on base PS4 alone. Not many people are excited for a little big planet anymore because dreams takes it and it wouldn't make very much sense to waste efforts on a new Little Big planet game when you can just reinvent the IP into something more logical

If you notice, any LBP game that does not involve creating or sharing is not branded as LBP. (E.g. Sackboy: A Big Adventure, Sackboy's Prehistoric Moves, and Ultimate Sackboy.) I think that's what they are doing with the brand, they only put "LittleBigPlanet" on the title of the game if it is about creating and sharing, as well as playing. I don't know though, tell me if I got something wrong in the replies. I'm hoping the next game that involves creating and sharing as well as playing will be called LBP, probably LBP4.

I like your good thinking, I hope they make a new Littlebigplanet game because it will get much more money!

ModNation Racers was amazing, LBP and MNR were my childhood dude, and they just... disappeared... :( Why not a remaster of ModNation? Or just like a whole pack of old videogames (lbp and modnation and whatever other dead game) returning in ps5 or something like that. We need to push this idea, we did it with the lbp servers, why not now?

The thing is that a new LBP could work but a new create mode in-game would be a problem

What do I think? I think I would enjoy an LBP4 but , I think that the "LBP" name is dead , or is on it's way out. Taking a closer look , all of the spin offs or titles that weren't part of the main series were usually left to other development studios , PSP by camebridge , Karting by San diego , Vita by Double 11. The only exeptions I can think of are Prehistoric moves , a tech demo with a playtime of 30 minutes or so , and Run Sackboy Run. With A Big Adventure being created by sumo and not some other small company , as well as being a full game , unlike the exeptions I mentioned , it hints at there being a new direction for the sackboy character.

I thought it was such a missed opportunity when I realized it could/should have been called Sackboy: A LittleBig Adventure. That could have established it as its own thing while not closing the door on the LittleBig branding. I LOVE Dreams... but it's almost prohibitively difficult to use casually, and I'd love to see LBP come back with its simple UGC modes (maybe a little more complex... more layers or full 3D environments even, but with the simple toolset of the PopIt... and feel it could and should coexist alongside Dreams AND the more adventure-style SABA approach.

I think LBP and Dreams do coexist in a way, while LBP3 doesn't get updates anymore, it has quite the active fanbase. I think an LBP4 could coexist with Dreams, as someone who likes both games now.

I never played modnation racers & littlebigplanet karting since I didn't own a ps3. It'll be cool to see sequels to both games released on ps4 & ps5 since I love kart-racing games.

Idk why people don't realize this, but if the game title starts with LittleBigPlanet it has a level editor, if the game title has Sackboy in it, it doesn't have a level editor, that's why the new game is called Sackboy

I honestly hate it when companies try to prevent a situation we’re there competing with themselves because you can’t actually compete with yourself it’s like when lego fans try to argue over witch lego show is best or speculating or worrying if the next new lego IP is gonna replace ninjago it doesn’t have to be like this there made by the same company they can coexist heck they should coexist I love little big planet it’s what introduced me to PlayStation in the first place when my dad first got me a psp to play with while traveling on the road he also got me little big planet and later on years later he got us a PS3 and I got each little big planet game except the vita one because I don’t have a vita but anyway I completely agree with you little big planet still has a home on PlayStation and in the gaming industry and I hope Sony brings it back really soon also I will say that I also love dreams I think it’s a great way for people to get into game development and I even tried making a few things in it I still need practice with it tho sense I am actually making my own game but in unreal engine I’m just playing around with dreams to practice my development skills

Sumo screwed over the launch of lbp3 the game was broken and unplayable the first day by the time they patched it to a decent state most players already moved on it's not that the franchise is dead it's because Lbp has the same issue halo has with 343 the devs struggle to capture what made the original games so good and release it in a playable state

I hope the LBP series keeps on going, im hoping sony is making a new LBP game among the 25 first party titles. it is so sad to see the servers being attacked constantly because of stupid drama and hurting not just one person but everyone playing the game that want to create and play.

Have you guys ever wondered what will happen to the community levels once LBP servers will go offline? One day it will happen and there are so many levels that are so good and fun and not only those that have lots of plays so like will they be just gone forever? Or would they make all the levels copyable so we can save our favs to our moon ? I mean after all community levels are the biggest part of LBP

For the main story I love sack boy a big adventure but what gave little big planet so much replay ability was the fact people could creat a new levels and u could go play them it also gave u more of a reason to look for stickers and so on cause u could use them while making your levels. I’ve completed sack boy and there’s not much of a reason to go back to it. It’s just made me want to go back and play little big planet 2 😪

I really wish they could coexist. My 3 siblings and I all grew up on LBP and would come home from school every day and run to the ps3 just to play it. When we finally got SABA I was super excited, the frankly dissatisfied with how it controlled. Even the storyline was lackluster. If they do make a 2nd SABA they should at least make another LBP, or I might have to do it myself in Dreams. (Jk, I'm not good a creating in that medium)
