Bleach doesn't deserve more appreciation, it has just the right ammount. It's just that Bleach fans are stuck in Aizen's arc and can't deal with the fact that it never was meant to be a absurd success like the other members of the Big 3, especially because it never offered as much as them. There's no double standards, Bleach was what we would call a basic Shonen, while Naruto and One Piece managed to bring something more that made them more memorable. It's not because everyone is dumb, Aizen, it's because people can't see value in what you're saying if you don't make clear what you're talking about from the start.

The first two comments were extremely r3tarded 😂😂. How on earth is the quincy arc unrelated to bleach?? Zaraki's zanpakuto plot line hadn't been explored, and grimmjow was still alive, meaning we had to see him later. So many characters had their stories explored in the TYBW. Kyoraku's bankai was teased in a previous arc, even Ukitake having something to do with "god" was foreshadowed way back in soul society. Isshin and Ryuken had history that wasn't explained until TYBW. "The three bums that were sidelined"?? If that m0r0n is talking about Chad, ishida and orihime, I'm pretty sure ishida and orihime weren't sidelined. Chad was, though, but there really wasn't much left for Chad to do as a character. If it's Tatsuki, Keigo and Mizuiro , kubo didn't want or need to make them main side characters. I love how people bring them up as if that's a valid criticism. Here's my question to anyone who thinks kubo made a bad writing decision not to expand on those three: what exactly would they have contributed to the story???. This is what happens when people watch bleach from channels dedicated to hating on and criticising bleach. Very dishonest and disingenuous people. Bleach isn't perfect by any means, but majority of these "criticisms" are easily explained if one pays attention or simply tries to learn more like fans do with other series. Imagine watching a show when you were a kid, not understanding a thing then, refusing to watch it as an adult when your brain is more developed and then coming to the conclusion that it's not well written while using your childish and teenage brain to analyse a series that needs a deeper level of thinking. The main reason why bleach is hated is because it has to defend itself constantly against fans of the other two of the big three. I watched bleach before I saw naruto and one piece and I still prefer it to naruto and one piece. All three have their boring moments but bleach has the least amount of boring moments. And if bleach is as hated as these children say, it wouldn't have brought Studio perriot back from the brink of collapse. Bleach fans aren't as vocal as the other two of the big three and most of it's haters are simply fans of the other two. So why should I take them seriously?

Honestly I think a big issue with the TYBW arc is that it wasn’t long enough, mainly so near the start, it kinda doesn’t let the normal Sternritters develop enough, which does make sense seeing as there’s more Sternritters than Espadas and Captains combined, but it still would’ve been nice to see more of what each Sternritter could do individually rather than shotgunning all the fights at once, like some of them we don’t even have the name of the Schrift of. It also does really feel like Ichigo’s friends got kinda sidelined, they definitely shouldn’t have been on the same level as Ichigo but they really don’t do much in the grand scheme of things, Orihime is always just in the back healing people (and sometimes healing enemies which boils my blood regardless of the narrative) and Chad might as well be decoration after his one fight where he gets his left arm of the devil near the start of the Arrancar arc. This also extends to Tatsuki, Keigo and Mizuiro, who were literally set up to have spiritual pressure and it feels like they’ll join the main fighters but they just don’t, especially with the Fullbringer arc with normal humans who have the powers to go toe to toe with the Soul Reapers. It would’ve been good for Chad to get some more moments, especially in the Fullbringer arc, and it would’ve been awesome to see the rest of Ichigo’s friends join the fight. I also think characters like Starrk kinda felt weak because of the TYBW arc, with him and his comrades supposedly being massive threats but never forcing Shunsui to even activate his Bankai, at the time he felt decently strong since he pushed Shunsui into a corner but he was like one of the only captains to not go all out, which makes the Arrancars, especially the Espada, feel far less threatening, and more just like Aizen was the only threat. I love Bleach and not nearly enough people talk about it, I just think the story has some flaws like most do.

This video resonated a lot with me, so I sat down for a moment to really think about everything. I'm a fan of the Big Three, and Bleach is my favorite among them, so maybe I'm biased. I think the majority of it is just fandom drama, with people saying that One Piece or Naruto is better for various reasons. In retrospect, these arguments often seem unproductive, but context matters a lot in this situation since many critiques come from different eras of the anime and manga community. I think the SuperEyepatchWolf video also contributed, as people used it as justification or as an argument for Bleach's decline in the 2010s. Unfortunately, I also believe that the anime adaptation, with its fillers and changes, was not very good. However, I would also say that the One Piece anime at the time was just as bad with its terrible pacing, but its stronger fandom really helped it out. I was young when the Naruto and Bleach manga were ending, but old enough to join in on comment wars... Now, I think that after COVID and with some years passing, people have matured a lot and realized their original critiques weren't as valid as they once believed. I don't think these anime or manga are perfect, as all stories have some type of flaw. However, I do think that the modern anime and manga community is more open in how they critique things, or maybe this is due to the fact that anime and manga are now bigger than ever. If I were to give my own critique, I would probably need to read the manga in its entirety since I was primarily a fan of the anime. However, I think it would be a good exercise in retrospection to look at my older critiques from when I was younger. Orihime Inoue: I just personally never liked her character, even now as a freshly turned 20-year-old. Now, when I got older in my late teens, I realize that people hated on her character way too much, and shippers from the anime contributed to this a lot. I think the only valid criticisms relate to her connection with the Hueco Mundo Arc, which I believe has more legitimate critiques compared to those about her character specifically. Just because I and others like Rukia more doesn't mean Orihime is bad character, and her relationship with Ichigo makes perfect sense, especially from a manga perspective. I don't really have anything to critique about her character besides my own favoritism towards Rukia. Hueco Mundo: Going off my memory from years ago, I just found some parts boring. It's hard to really grasp what I didn't like about it back then; the anime pacing could be a factor. Maybe if I read the manga instead, I would have found it more enjoyable. However, I do think parts of Hueco Mundo were just slow, or maybe people were just impatient and wanted to get to Aizen or Ichigo quicker. The Arrancars, especially the Espada like Grimmjow, Ulquiorra, Szayelaporro, Nnoitra, etc., were cool. However, besides them, I found the other fights annoying or boring. I’m definitely going to reread this arc for sure. My modern critique is that I also think the Orihime powers plotline with Aizen kind of falls flat and was somewhat wasted. People says this arc is a copy of SS, and I don't really think that a problem. One Piece reuses parts of it story structure alot, and many other manga do as well. Ichigo Kurosaki: People said he was bland, and at the time, I didn't have good arguments, so I conceded a lot back then when people started saying Ichigo was boring or a flat character. It's obvious Ichigo does change and grow throughout the story. I think the fact is Ichigo's goal is simply to protect those close to him, and people were used to the other Big Three protagonists, who had grandiose goals. My modern critique is that I think Kubo struggles with getting Ichigo into organic conflicts when it dosen't revolves him learning about his powers back or his friends are in trouble, and of course ichigo primarily want to be strong to protect those close to him. Fullbring Arc: I actually like this arc surprisingly; it had an enjoyable slower pace that I enjoyed compaerd to Hueco Mundo pacing. However, I feel like Kubo’s enjoyment of the story really shone through in this arc. It reminds me of what I enjoyed in Soul Society more than anything. I think people overhate this arc a lot, though there are a lot of valid critiques. The whole 'losing his powers' shtick didn't last too long, but I do wonder how the story would have flowed if this arc never happened or it was replaced with something else. I would have loved if Chad got more spotlight in this arc because I felt he got the least attention out of Ichigo's friends having their own little spot in their own arc. A lot of the arc felt unnecessary and underdeveloped; I think many concepts were dropped because of poor reception from fans. I'm watching the TYBW and I'm enjoy it, though I know Kubo added changes for the anime, and of course, watching and reading something can evoke totally different feelings. Each medium has its flaws and strengths(I read a few chapters and look at spoilers before the anime came back). The only thing I notice is this rebound effect from a lot of Bleach creators lately. It feels like a lot of pent-up frustration due to people hating on the series back in the day, which is fair because I do remember people hating on it, and now they're alot of prior haters jumping on the bandwagon. However, I don't think people have to be that serious about stuff like that. I think positivity reaches far more than any negativity will. This are my honest thoughts on the entirety of this.

Being absolutely honest, Bleach put me to sleep so many times, I think I read it to completion out of obligation. I think it's around the point that Chad had his upgrade debut in hueco mundo that I was just... completely out of it. There's a difference between 'plot points unresolved' and 'threads that could be pulled on if the story were to go further' In the case of the ones you brought up, to be honest, if none of those were ever answered of brought up, it would have been more than fine, in fact a lot of those are left at the end of Bleach too, doesn't mean the story is unfinished or incomplete because not every detail is explored and explained. In the case of the final getsuga, to be frank, I think it sucks from a writing perspective, it's the pinnacle of a deus ex machina, just because it's explained doesn't make it less of one, but the primary issue I have with it is that it doesn't have any long term impact, this idea of him trading his powers and having a send off it FANTASTIC, but then the manga has to go on I guess so he gets them back 1 arc later, which completely ruins that moment in hindsight. In the case of side characters getting power cliffed... there's a perfectly reasonable way of doing this, just don't escalate the power of your series that rapidly and let them grow along side Ichigo, if they have more specific powers even better. There's no law of Shonin that characters have to get power cliffed but in the context of a manga heavily inspired by Dragon Ball, it does make sense that it happened here too. Basically, I like Bleach, I am currently watching the anime as it comes out because its a good time, and I did read the manga as it was ending, but I do think overall as a series it is pretty middling, there are a lot of problems with it, but it has a lot of good moments too. Overall, if you like it a lot, great, but don't act like just hyper defending it somehow invalidated criticism of the media, even a lot of major Bleach content creators have make their views clear on the short comings of their series and I respect them a lot for it.

@@__Kumo sigh, ok I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt here and actually continue this conversation amicably. 1- There is a difference between something that is set up, and something that exists but doesn't need to be explained, for example: Unrevealed bankais aren't bad writing, just sometimes there isn't a moment when it would have made sese to show them for certain characters. The quincy aren't the main antagonists until their arc, before that they were a part of the setting's history, in other words if we never got the blood war arc, the story is still 'complete' but the blood war is a great example of organic expansion of the story, it makes sence that the story *could* go that way. 2- Explaining a Dues ex machina in the moment to 'force it to make sense' doesn't make it less of one, it's something any writer can do. Ultimately it comes off as Kubo making aizen too powerful so he had to come up with a reason to make Ichigo vastly more powerful in a way that is explained but somehow never show before or after. 3- You can write power levels however you want, in the soul society each of the side characters were powerful enough to have their moments, this continues until the fights in the early hueco mundo arc. If Kubo wanted, he could have made those characters gain in power at the same rate as Ichigo or at least similar, the explanation of soul reapers being stronger than is realistic for anyone else is retroactive, it didn't have to be that way, evidenced by the fact that in the quincy arc, since he's now plot relevant Kubo came up with a way to make Uryū strong enough. I'll land on this, it is ok to accept that your series has valid criticisms to it, whether you agree with them or whether you think that makes the series any less good overall is up to you, but acting like they aren't valid doesn't further anything, it just pushes people away. In the case of Bleach, I do watch quite a lot of belach content, but over time I'm more interested in watching people who accept that not everything is perfect or can be explained away, sometimes, things are just not that well written in a weekly manga release schedule.

Bleach is in a similar situation as the Star Wars prequels. The internet was pretty new and you had these trolls who wanted to spread hate gather and make it extremely toxic. Then you had the actual/majority of the fans who never really went on the Internet and just watched it, which is why it had extremely high sales and views. Some of my complains with Bleach- Season 1 needs a remake with TYBW treatment and good pacing.Season 1 can be finished in within 150 episodes with good pacing,no dragging of the fights and no fillers. But personally I enjoyed Bleach specially after 300 episodes when the climax started till now TYBW and Im loving this arc. But before that its hard to go through many of the episodes in season 1 because of terrible pacing and too much dragging of a single fight.Not to mention the censorship makes it bs of a show.I remember Rangiku going down as if she died with some mere scratches on her waste but then I heard the damage was massive and it was censored.

Objectively trash pacing, and Naruto's ending is arguably way worse and more dragged out than Bleaches, to the point people also miss the entire point of that manga too, and say some ignorant shit. But more on topic, I don't get the hate either, or how people could think the show was ober after Aizen, my man literally says "the world is broken and someone needs to fix it" how would that not lead into another arc? Their Top 3 story of the decade was in it's final arc and they would rush it? Yeah, totally believable. Bleach had problems because weekly manga authors have self-imposed inhumane schedules and it starts taking it's toll over time. Think you would handle working 20 hours a day and on many projects with each having it's own deadline for over 10 years? Don't fool yourself, real life isn't as forgiving as it is in our heads. Even Oda, which is Saitama levels of absurd resilience has to take it's pauses to not simply DIE from overworking and even took a vacation during the timeskip period. I am very critical of the TYBW and of the ending as a whole, but god these comments are so dumb. We could talk about some characters getting sideline at the end, which again not Kubo's fault, Jump fucked him over, or how we don't truly understand the Soul King's story, or get to see Ichigo's and Orihime's relationship. But the thing is, most problems you may point out in the manga only exist in the manga, the Novels exist, they expand and answer a lot of questions, in my opinion the Novels elevate Bleach from a 7.5/10 to a 9/10 almost a 10/10, and i expect it to possibly become an almost perfect story once the Hell Arc comes out

I will say this time and time again, Bleach isn’t underrated NOR overrated. Like it doesn’t need to be either. I’d like this to be a discussion. I bring up really good points imo. I think it’s exactly where it should be. Define “underrated:” “not rated or valued highly enough.” -Oxford Lang. For one, I will say the numbers in sales and franchising don’t lie, and extra content from Bleach Brave Souls, fan service, and light novels, we all enjoyed Bleach with a high average in any given arc or capacity. Not just because it was “some big anime”, like top popular anime (shows, movies, books, literally anything, etc.) are ALWAYS gonna be criticized. I don’t think there’s anyway to justify “a lot of people lowly grade or hate Bleach” when it doesn’t compare to how much people like or love Bleach. ALSO, Bleach ISN’T OVERRATED because DESPITE how much people love Bleach we criticize it A LOT, which is what was mentioned in this video. And we’re VERY harsh on it when we do criticize it. Also, Bleach is the most relevant shounen because it’s simple to understand, it has a great mc, good/great plot, and people are still growing up with Bleach because TYBW anime is ongoing, fixing it up a bit, and gives a lot of new people time to get into it or viewers coming back. And it’s DEF worth it. Lastly, I will talk about other anime. If we talk about the Big 3, Naruto has ended, One Piece is TOO long and just intimidating to get into, and Bleach remedies both of those problems, there’s still room for more even if TYBW ends. Either Kubo will redo the light novels or he WILL state something like “we’re taking this as official.” Btw I have not watched either of those anime, or any other shounen, but I’ve come to believe neither of those anime are underrated and overrated. I feel like they’re not getting over/underwhelming love or hate from the community. And the true fans who love that anime will still love it; and again we all have our gripes about our favorite things. I want to point out One Piece, the true fans are always rewarded because of the length of the show, and One Piece admittedly does have sad or epic moments, same with Naruto-from things I’ve heard. Bleach though, I’ve never felt like THAT strongly before. JJK and Chainsaw Man *as anime* is personally overrated. When I watched it, I felt the pressure to be hyped about it, but it really wasn’t all that. Tbf this is coming from a guy whose favorite shounen anime besides Bleach is Bungou Stray Dogs and World Trigger, so it’s fair to not take my last statement seriously. I did enjoy Kaiju No. 8 more than JJK and Chainsaw Man, and honestly if this becomes a major-major anime franchise it’d be up there with my others. When you first start those 2 overrated anime you’re COMPLETELY unconditioned to be attached to the plot or the characters. Let's be real Bleach is more or less the Nickelback of anime. Nothing else seems to get as much unnecessary flak, especially given how many other manga it has inspired. If you remove the bount arc, and the captain arc, and cut some fat off of the useless fights, then Bleach would be 10/10. So, basically, the manga (minus TYBW). I think you can keep the 2 other filler arcs, just put them as a separate anime entry(sidestory), and maybe chop Bleach up into arc specific anime entries so people know when to watch certain filler arcs or movies if they want. I still remember reading comments to figure out when filler episodes stopped, but I don't think any comments ever told you that you can watch a certain movie after/before an arc. Also, people might hate on Bleach, but nobody can deny that it has the best drip out of the big 3. Character designs go hard.

Gladly saw this video after re-reading and rewatching bleach ahead of the next season. I neither agree or disagree with this video. Bleach is reasonably rated (and hated) as part of the big 3. There are (reasonable) essays of how much one piece sucks that will never acknowledge it's greatness. I've personally been a Naruto hater and Boruto is the easiest layup to hate Naruto even if it's its own story. Towards the end, the manga had its challenges in light of Kubo Sensei's health challenges, but overall, Bleach stands the test of time. Forgetting story telling mechanics, challenges and such, Kubo built an entirely unique world and told a uniquely interesting story, which when compared to other animanga, is superior to many, and only bested by a few (jjk is inspired by bleach ((and many other stories such as bobobo bo bo bobo, not trolling, look it up)) and arguably way better, fight me on this). Bleach is exactly what it is, an imperfect, flawed masterpiece.

I personally think bleach and Kubo's impact in Shonen jump is quite underrated, I'm not even a big fan of this guy although bleach is like barely within top 20 of my anime and manga, but Kubo revolutionized shonen jump's battle manga formula by using a stylistic but really efficient writing style out of it (bleach being a standard for it) that's why he may not be loved by a lot of anime fans but he is definitely loved and appreciated by a lot of modern jump that he's pretty much the standard of majority of the modern jump titles. If he's gonna be compared to a sportsman, his impact is similar to someone like Steph Curry to basketball or Floyd Mayweather jr. to boxing

what ive listened to is just pure bias and im sad that, as a bleach fan, i have to listen to Lord Yappingtons like you. you See, you're using that yhwach and zangetsu "foreshadowing" stuff that Kubo answered in a Q&A and never made sense. but lets go through this logically please. answer me this, how does ichibei, who hasnt met ichigo at that point and most likely never even heard of him,same ichibei, who hasnt fought yhwach for almost 2 year up to zangetsus and ichigos meetup, could cover old mans name with an ink and remove its name?? i mean im the last person who would question ichibeis powers, but covering old mans name with ink cus of something thats gonna happen 2 years later (ichibei removing yhwachs name)?? theres no foreshadowing im afraid, i know it would be nice, but that whole ichibei covering zangetsus name is just a theory that a fan asked a question about and Kubo ran with it without any logical explanation. and you say he would plan his major villains out, like yhwach, but youre also wrong on that. kubo has never been a planner and he has admitted that. when he gets stuck in a story, he just introduces more characters and thats how he progresses his story, and thats how we got yhwach. he retconned it and it was a very successful thing, because it worked wonderfully with everything but the rain and the blade is me, and it wasnt because of some overreaching foreshadowing. and the quincies hatred you mentioned to be a foreshadowing, please tell me how does that foreshadow Wanderreich's return, up untill that point in the story, we only know that quincys got massacred 200 years ago and only uryu and ryuken are alive, so wheres the foreshadowing?? cus wanderreich lost 1000 years ago and they havent come out of shadow ever since, this was never foreshadowed. the more i listen to you, the more you sound like DBZimran, who tries to overreach on everything to make his fav show peak fiction. and last, please stop using the word "Objective", because enjoyment and entertainment is Subjective in every shape or form. and to say Bleach is "objectively" most entertaining in the big 3 is just making the word "objectively" lose its proper purpose, just say subjectively cus it was enteraining for you and move on. personally, i love bleach more than OP and naruto, but i was more entertained by OP throughout the story, but that dont mean its my fav, but thats all subjective and can never be objective. :))

i still liked bleach more than one piece and naruto, but you cant deny that bleach has a massive plot armour problem. Literally the only ones who ever die are villains. (Except some like yama and uki but they are not main cast) I really believe that kubo shouldve just finished of byakuya in the scene where he asks ichigo to save soul society, it would have made the moment alot more impactful and added even more suspence. I also think they shouldve killed of some of the other more irrelevant captains.

People who rated it as “bad” were to simple mimded and never really watched it. So many foreshadowings which really gave me reason to re-watch it over and over and made me make me making notes. Never liked dbz and naruto because it was the same patern as always. New strong enemy traing hard got to the next level.. B-boring. Bleach was was way more complicated. Failed to beat the the enemy search for a certain tutor, to unlock a strengt which was already there and pre-hinted by Kubo in previous episodes. From the quincy side to hollow and from human to shinigami. And even i didn’t notice all hints from kubo like the quincy cross in manga episode. I did always wondered how Ichigo find the right box with the red collored lint which uryuu could. So many other things i could that nost bleach lovers can tell as well.

You are describing a literal pattern thats not only repetitive for anime in general, but for bleach. bad guys come they are so strong, then they get overpowered because yes, happens in arrancar arc and in quincy arc, same for deaths baiting, forcing the villain to always get beaten by ichigo or have its last fight with him (aizen vs gin/yhwach vs ichibei), Ichigo getting a power up out of nowhere because yes, he is mixed and bleach tell us that in episode 500. Bleach isn't even remotely complicated, it's way more simpler than Naruto.

So many people miss the point of bleach and how its structered its insane. The "mugetsu/final getsuga was an asspull" really reminded me of that. How does one not realize the entire point of bleach isnt a beat the big bad story, but a character growth one. If ichigos character isnt complete, the story cant be either. Character growth is at every point in bleach the driver of the story, nothing else. Thats why mugetsu isnt an asspull, its ichigos acceptance of truth, him achieveing what he thinks is the last growth, its 100% in line with his character and its side effect drives the plot all the way up to tybw. I do agree certain character shouldve gotten more screentime, but yes, ichigo was set up to he an anomaly dsy 1, again, the entire poin is character growth, and ichigos character is his massive potential trapped by his doubts, fear, and unknowing ofnwho he really is, no shit hes gonna be insanely strong to the point almost no one can keep up with his growth rate. Not to mention quincy, his soul/soul reaper aptitude, and hollow were all foreshadowed, again, he was set up to be an anomaly. Bleach isnt even that deep imo except for a few characters who have niche philosophical approches to their design in character, its just that no one tries to understand it and everyone is too stupid to realize that you dont read it like a battle shonen, even though it has many of those aspects, its more unique within the genre because each battle is a clash of philosophies, a clash of ideas, a clash of motivations. Yes, every battle is like this in other anime, but bleach leans into this the most to the point its a bit odd, everyone has a reason that isnt ever said through a backstory or narrator 90% of the time, but you can still interpret why the two fighting makes sense, where its very cut and dry, very clear, and very contrasting. I think if it was a light novel it would be very appreciated like rezero or toaru is within the ln community because thankfully at least light novel readers know how to read and dont view everything as a "why isnt he training and getting more techniques to heat the big bad!" (alot more often than the "bleach shouldnt be in the big 3" folks anyway). Its almost like bleach is in the big 3 for a reason, its almost like most modern shonen have a blend of dbz and bleach in story structure and elements for a reason, its almost like bleach is called your mangakas favorite manga for a reason. Bleach gets hate because people dont know how to read it. You dont need to like it, I thought there were very boring canon parts too, and that kubo didnt know what to do with some characters after giving them their fight, but to say its bad is insane. As an aspiring writer myself, bleach is one of the 4 animanga that got me writing, and it pisses me off to no end that people still see bleach as something that stole hunter hunters spot in the big 3, or that it shouldnt be in the big 3 because it has "many plot holes and conveniences" when as far as I can tell, its actually the most sound when it comes to that. Long ass rant, but yeah, great video, people need to respect bleach.
