If you are going to cover a song, make it your own. Do something different. No one wants to hear an exact Karaoke version. Put your twist on it. This is just an attempt to sound exactly the same, which is not what a cover is.

Fair points you make. I think on balance though they made significant changes - BL deleted the piano, drums, and tambourine. Overall a less propulsive song. Breather vocals. But both lead and rhythm guitars are similar. Maybe overall more of a tribute than a cover, eh?

I think a cover of a song can really be whatever you want it to be, we absolutely love the original Mazzy Star - Fade Into You, and really wouldn’t want to change a thing about it! It’s really just a nod to how great the song is. But thank you for your input.
