Yeah, this whole episode is full of nice little callbacks. When Ichigo arrives he says the same thing Kenpachi said to him when he saved him from Nniotora. Renji says the same thing to Ichigo that Ichigo told him on Sokyoku Hill. Byakuya gives Rukia his scarf the same way he did to Renji to show he acknowledges their strengths.

If you go back to TYBW Ep 1 Ichigo uses the new Getsuga to kill a hollow after it attacks those two soul reapers. It’s real quick but you can see it, then as he uses his bankai you can see the same yellow aura surrounding him.
