As manga reader, I can tell you that we all were emotionally devasted for Byakuya in this scene. Seeing cheerful Rukia turn into decaying corpse in manga is just as effective a jumpscare/psychological attack as in anime! Edit: the fight part of Genryusai's flashback is anime-only, and it makes everything about him and his loyal lieutenant so much better!

It was in the Manga, but it was better in the anime since it was a little longer and we can actually see how Chojiro utilized it properly versus how the poser Driscoll used it for glorified lightning bolt spam.

Man.... spoilers below... I swear I'm so amazed with Kubo having such balls of steel to kill people left and right this arc and rightfully so on most situations because it was necessary for the war and the character progression for some characters but then some of the annoying fans really did these threats and the war lost all its meaning with Byakuya alive when he's supposed to be dead already to give way for Rukia and Renji to grow better as characters. We already had something special and fresh this arc only for it to turn stale and typical again in the second invasion arc, sigh....

Well, at least in this episode we've learned that gangsters also cry. Don't worry, as a manga reader I knew what would happen, but even though I knew what would happen in the episode I cried a lot. It's hard to see someone as strong and dear as Byakuya being defeated like this. This episode was perfect, but the one will probably be even better. Great reaction, I'm looking forward for the next one.

You were rigth the quincies didnt know how to use properly their bankais if that was the case then as noadt wouldnt need to hit byakuya 3 times with it while byakuya only need a few petals of them to make a hole in tsukuchima, the quincy even use his hands so this means he was hit him with his full power

I'm not sure what has been explained in the anime so far, but Isshin was injured by Aizen (he didn't know who injured him) while fighting a particular hollow and he lost the ability to use his bankai. He was saved by a particular person, and Urahara helped Isshin to save the person who saved them, but it cost him a great deal of his power as well as his ability to go back to soul society. (what happened to Isshin shouldn't be spoilers, that was revealed during the fight against he hollows in Hueco Mundo, the hollow he fought and who saved him may be a spoiler that is revealed in this arc... so I left it out just in case) So he literally just kind of lives the life of a human at his clinic.
