I don't think most people know how much xgi is used by ufotable and everyone loves their work. A lot of special effects like auras and hit clashes and sparks can be done with CGI. Look at the latest dragon Ball movie. The whole movie is CGI and the special effects are insane. CGI and traditional animation can go hand in hand and look phenomenal. Let's give Pierrot the benefit of the doubt. TYBW has banged so far

No, its a horrible trend. I know its a good thing for saving time in production so that 2d can be focused on, however there are so many issues with cgi like characters floating on the 3d tile floor because many animators barely knows perspective anymore and how to blend the interaction to the tile floor. This is why in shows like JJK a lot of characters are just floating around in action scenes and the background goes full adhd with the 2d lagging behind or not matching at all. Its crazy how much animation have been ruined due to heavy cgi implementation. It also makes the scenes hyper sterilised like there are no imperfection you would see with traditional pure 2d that gives charm. Studio pierrot is not Studio Orange or Ufotable that specialize in 3d so they are going to do a worse impression in that sector. Its insane annoying how Ufotable and Mappa have basically ruined all anime going forward with their stupid cgi implementation when animators in the 90s and 2000s could pull off full sakuga scenes on traditional cel animation. Nowadays they have digital tablets where paying for papers is not an issue anymore, and using 2d programs are faster with editing control/layers and not having to paint/color every drawing the traditional way. They also have 3d programs at disposal for references or modeling to create stuff with more accuracy and time savings. With all these helping tools (nowadays people can use even Ai tools ontop) and somehow they have a harder time doing stuff that were just basic in the 90s 🙄

I would be amazed if they can do Lilie's form in cg since it had too many forms and that it takes a lot of damage. Cause making multiple models for him would be more expensive than just making him more in 2d. Though I am more inclined that the "CGI" for Lillie will be the lighting effects in a similar case with Mayuri's sun suit
