To trick the audience the first time maybe, but one youtuber says she likes to be as free as possible, and that's at the core of her character and everything she does. Perhaps in the manga, ichigo referred to the catt as "mr" so they had to give the cat a male voice to not give it away and surprise the audience, or to not make ichigo look dumb, every other character would mention that mr cat has a female voice.

@@pumkin610 Good points! In Japanese, though, Ichigo has always just addressed Yoruichi as "Yoruichi-san", and the -san honorific means that you're being polite and it can be used with both males and females
