Very cool to learn that Dave Roberts challenged Walker Buehler in front of the whole team and due to their relationship, Walker responded positively. Roberts knows his players and how to push them. Even recommending to guys to modify their approaches in the batting cages to focus on hits (not specifically home runs) - we saw how that played out. It worked.

Seeing how all the players went about their business every day and getting to know their character on and off the field - respect! And then there's Dave Roberts. For me what separates a great manager from the rest is the ability to "feel" the moment - to know when to pull a pitcher or leave him in - whatever the analytics say. I can't imagine a better manager for this team .

This is where everything flips for Doc. Sports are so overwhelmingly mental, and baseball most of all. The respect he’s earned across the league and media for handling the injuries and players this season and getting the chip, combined with how he’s always been loved as a person, has earned him Phil Jackson type buy in with players. Now, when he says something to a player or the team in seasons to come, they will fully believe. And because they fully believe, they will succeed. It’s such a difficult status for a coach/manager to achieve that very, very few do. When they do though, it usually leads to a dynastic run.
