it reminds me of the first time i heard springsteen when ii was just into my teens in the mid 70's, a spur of the moment purchase of the wild, the innocent album & the born to run album when it came out. one of my fave music clips of all time is bruce & the band playing rosalita live at the hammersmith odeon in 1977 i think? it has the same feel to it though nobody could ever replace the big man, there are sax players then there was clarence, i bought a nils lofgren album too the same way at the same time, my teenage brain must have known something?

If Bowie and Springsteen had a baby… it would be this dang song 🫨
@morrisshaw
@morrisshaw 9 ай бұрын
springsteen & the ramones had a baby, made jonathon richman his godfather & gave him harmonies & created this outfit, they even have their little bruce & the big man double act going on circle rosalita in 1975. the best song i've heard in several decades, some of those lyrics are pure dee dee & the sax just reminded me that clarence is gone. he sure can write some songs, reminds me of the first time i heard tom petty or bruce & since i have a photographic memory of my childhood i recall the first time i heard the beatles as a two year old in 1964, i can't give anyone more higher praise & if i wasn't 61 i would have remembered his name from the segment where jimmy interviewed him & would have remembered that i'd seen it on telly & not online after i spent ages rewinding my history before the name of the band leapt into my head, yes, i am baked, why do you ask?

They are so freaking good. I love Jack Antonoff. I remember all the hand-wringing when he was collaborating with Lorde and Taylor Swift, and it seemed so dumb, because of course they'd want to partner up with a great songwriter and musician like him. Good knows good. Sometimes the music is simply about the music! And this is great music.
