Bleaching My Husbands Hair

I’m no Brad Mondo but I am a hair dresser! The hair turned extra yellow because you lifted it to yellow which is good but then you deposited 9g which is 9 gold (or 9 yellow on top). Basically double yellow. Next time doing purple like you joked about in the beginning would’ve actually been a great idea because purple (violet) is the opposite of yellow on the color wheel and would have canceled out the yellow that occurred after the lightener. It would have made it more neutral or even white. Try a 9v (9 violet). Make sure to always lift to the lightest yellow you can. I usually shoot for a pale yellow like the inside of a banana peel 😊 T 18 I think is blue so that would have worked if canceling out orange. Also, I would use a 5 or 6 volume for toning to be more gentle on the hair. But anywho you guys did a great job and I just adore you two. Thank you for sharing your life with us 🍓🩷

Also, don’t shampoo and conditioner your hair after apply the bleach. Just rinse it out really well. This will help w the burning feeling. Shampoo and condition after the toner. Also, u can wait till the next day to tone. Since u r doing it at home. That might help w burning too.

My Dad has had the same exact haircut and style since the late 50s/early 60s from when he was in elementary school!!! He only trusts ONE person to cut his hair in town!! And still puts a TON of hairspray on it every single day because he doesn't want a single strand of hair to be out of place!! 😮

I’ve dyed my hair blonde 2x in the past 2 years, burns Everytime, that pain it unbearable😭😭 & if u would like it more blonde/bleached/lighter/closer to white I would recommend revlon color effects platinum(luminous platinum powder) u can get it at Amazon or Walmart it gets the color ur looking for, it’s a woman’s box dye, I used it & absolutely loved the way my hair turned out, regardless it looks great & turned out really nice!!! & yes whatever makes u happy, it’s ur hair😊😊 I couldn’t stop laughing this whole video😂😂 u guys r amazing & I look forward to ur videos every week❤❤ absolutely love the longer videos👏🏾👏🏾 I’m a real one☺️☺️

Sam, do you have previous beautician experience? It was fantastic watching you work on Joey's hair. I read interviews with James Marsters who played Spike on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The hair stylist would add Sweet and Low to the hair bleach used to make Marsters's dark hair snow white color for the character's costume. The artificial sweetener was said to ease the sting.

I feel your toner pain. I once shaved my head and thought it'd be amazing to bleach it so I can have all different colours as it's fading and growing. Toner on after 2 bleaches and I immediately washed it out. It burned so bad. Looked great when it dried though. Love your guys bond.

Hairstylist advice here. Its not supposed to burn that much 🫣 i would give his scalp a break before a re-bleach or any color/toner thats more than 10 vol. Looked like you lifted him to a lvl 7, so a lvl 7 toner would have worked great to neutralize the warm tones. Great scissor over comb skills!

I would suggest waiting in between bleaching and toning the hair. It is not supposed to burn really bad. Don't wash the hair beforehand to have some oil protect the scalp and maybe wait a day to tone it so it can recover a little. I personally use wella illumina color 1:2 (instead of 1:1, color 10/69) to tone my hair with a very low volume developer and the wella perfecton (/6) to keep it up

10:08 I WANTED TO TELL YALL! i have this baby oilogic slumber & sleep body wash, sleep spray and essential oil! body wash helps to relax them during bath, the spray you put on their pjs and you rub the essential oil on their chest back and feet and it has been a game changer for my baby! it’s lavender and natural and helps my toddler to KNOCK OUT and he stays asleep thru the night! it’s good for babies 3m+.

I get bleached highlights too and lately it has been burning on my scalp and she did not change anything. So she puts a small package of sweet and low in the bleach and it takes out the sting. I did feel bad for you Joe for burning like that. You guys are hilarious 😂

Joey's hair is gonna lift to a orange/ yellow tone because his hair is so dark.... about a level 4.You brought a 9G to tone... level 9 gold. That is essentially double packing the yellow in the hair, making him look like a Dandelion. You need to cancel out the yellow out of the hair with an ash Or a violet tone. When in question use the color wheel. 😉 FYI really should use 30 on the scalp either

Has anyone tagged Brad Mondo lol I’d love to see that video, too! I do my own hair and (it’s a lot brighter than my profile pic now) but I use ion blonde hair cream (10A) with 30 developer. And then I use joico, blonde life violet shampoo and conditioner. Definitely recommend. I never used a toner. the shampoo does the job well, I leave it on 5 mins each, before rinsing.

My daughter loves Brad mondo….she loves that I can bleach and color her hair wild colors and not mess it up…I’ve been doing hair since I was like 12…I’m not a professional by any means lol but my daughter gets comments and asked where did she go to get it done, they act shocked when she says my mom did it at home.
