@@Involvod If you get one, best not to put the brake fluid in it, just use it to pressurize the full MC reservoir with about 10 psi air, and keep an eye on the level as you bleed them. This keeps from having to wash out the device and saves fluid as well. Good luck!

Solid job! There is a problem with front left caliper on my Volvo 245 - the wheel isn't spinning as freely as it should and sometimes on breaking I can hear nasty noise coming out of that wheel. I was thinking about purchasing new caliper from Skandix but as you pointed out in the video it ain't cheap 😔 Now my plan is to restore existing caliper by using Frenkit's repair kit. Thanks for such an informative video, it inspires me to do more jobs on my car by myself without visiting greedy specialists.

Oh thanks! Yeah they are quite expensive, I definitely would have just tried a rebuild kit if I had an old caliper. Good luck with it!

Thanks! The 740 is still over at the other shed, need to buy a welder etc and make a start on those floors 😬
@MrTrollHunter
@MrTrollHunter 2 жыл бұрын
A little question, when the brakesystem is empty, does the brakepedal on the 240 actually travel all the way to the floor or does it bottom out in the master cylinder before the pedal hits the floor? After I replaced the brakefluid and bleed the whole system, when the engine is running and I step on the brake pedal, it seems like the pedal is bottoming out in something off of the floor, I can sort of hear and feel a bump, but I am not sure if it is a definitive stop, or if I am still able to move the pedal beyond this point, it at least takes great force at this point. When the engine is not running I never reach this point where i hear /feel the bottoming out.

I may have missed something, but the brakes on a 240 are a split triangle arrangement. That would mean starting with the right rear, then right front, left front on that system, the left rear, right front, left front on the second system. The other thing is with the colour of that brake fluid, you really need to flush the system completely. Last time I did that, it required 17 litres of fluid to accomplish. Also, looks like your front wheel bearings are due for a repack. In another month I will be replacing the front wheel bearings. The one side has a bit of play. Do that with the spring tire change. Can't complain, since the bearings have never been done, and Arthur's next service will be his 615,000 kilometer one.
@Involvod
