I'm so happy UVs got got some love!! Not gonna lie, it feels like last couple of years modelling, rigging, sculpting, UVs and texture painting went a bit into the background as most of the development was focused on geometry nodes. I'm hoping this is a start of a new trajectory where all tools will be getting the same attention 🙏🙏🙏

These are all great as usual, and I'm not usually one to ask for things from free software, but I do wish they implement a way to edit instanced collections easily (edit the original collection through the instances). This would improve game dev scene workflow greatly, instead of having to blindly edit the original collection in isolation without any context of its placement.

I think it was already ~20 years ago Blender went open source. I remember downloading and playing with it. There were other options around, like PovRay, at that time with more accurate rendering, but not anywhere near when it comes to modelling. The Blender UI was already quite complex but a bit rough around the edges maybe. Have been playing with it on and off for these 20 years now. The evolution ever since... Sometimes slower, sometimes faster, but the last few years it is going lightning speed ! 🤯

@imclueless9875
@imclueless9875 Жыл бұрын
@@siberiandante I dont doubt that there is alot of work to be done there especially in terms of editing the volumetric aspects inside blender. But these are massive things that people have been waiting for and begging for for so long it should be a priority. Having to texture my sculpts or objects from blender to SP or another is just a step that we should be past by this point. Im not even gunna start with the problems with volumetrics that eevee/cycles currently have, no point in rendering really anything inside blender when 1 it takes literal DAYS to finish and 2 i cant even have functioning volumes, perspective and good depth of field additives to my workflow. Id rather just use Unreal Engine for rendering instead when in reality im dying on the inside wishing i could just use 1 program for all my workflow instead of hassling to render out or export things FOR UE.

Blender has some great features, but one thing I'd like to see is an increase to the length limit of material names. 63 characters is usually plenty but there are some workflows out there where we need a good few more. These will be related to other systems so the user won't have control of what names are used.

@@Mr.Sozzled it is very rare, but a while ago I was making custom models for a game mod, and wanted to use existing materials as much as possible. Their names are in the form of a path e.g. wood\panels\ornate... and on some occasions the existing name/path was very long. On one of the Blender forums someone else mentioned the limit being a problem, so it's not a one-off.

Pleeease tell me viewport pinning is available for the new viewer node, otherwise it has become notably more uncomfortable to use, as most of the time I just want to look at the spreadsheet without changing the viewport. If one didn't care about visualizing the values with colors in the viewport, the viewer node only makes everything else less comfortable. For example, the fact it shows the selected attribute value on one domain at a time, instead of all of them.
