One issue in this nk i noticed is when you import the exr again, it gets fiomic applied again on top of it. It was already saved with filmic since you used "save as render". When i check the prior video and scrolled between the beginning and the import section. I think I already noticed the contrast being different

I found Luminosity masks quiet an efficient and flexible way to tune up the image in post processing (photoshop) It gives you a range of luminosity values in a form of masks (alpha channels) from light to dark. In total 12 incremental steps/masks. I can share with you if you need.
