Can you export this type of hair into a game engine such as unity or unreal? Would you have to convert the particles into a mesh first? And UV unwrap? DW

I am already lost at 1:16 haha. maybe it was too early to fast forward it for us newbies :(( how do you the squares? i can only make lines out of vertecies..
@cshimp104 жыл бұрын
In edit mode you can select 2 points [hit 1 so the points are the little circles] and then CTRL+E to extrude and it'll create the squares depending whichever direction you're going. They can always be readjusted to your liking. I'm also a newbie haha I've had to repeat so many parts of the video xD

I have a small doubt. What if the character is about to be rigged. If rigged, should we weight paint on the skin as well as the scalp mesh. In case if we transfer weights to scalp mesh somehow (with modifiers), still does the hair moves properly along with the skin or will it look weird??
@RicoCilliers5 жыл бұрын
Transfer weights is probably the best way to do it, and the hair should deform correctly. Other ways are to use surface deform modifier or mesh cage modifier, and if its just the hair on top of the head and not a mustache, a simple shrinkwrap + parent will work fine

@khrazza4 жыл бұрын
generally speaking, how would you go about rigging this for animation? would it be possible?
@RicoCilliers4 жыл бұрын
it is entirely possible, sadly its too complex to explain in a single comment, but if you're interested, I would encourage you to google "facial rigging tutorial in blender" and you should find some decent guides :) good luck!
@khrazza4 жыл бұрын
@@RicoCilliers lol thanks for the responde. I've looked up a lot of those tutorials and rigged faces, but never with a particle system for the hair. I'm assuming you just parent the mesh for the particle system to the head and then that's, generally speaking, the main idea.
@khrazza4 жыл бұрын
@@RicoCilliers the thing is. I couldn't find any tutorials for facial rigging that used a particle system for the hair.

Can you give me the tutorial for the skin ?
@RomboutVersluijs5 жыл бұрын
He Rico, thanks for this awesome tut and also making the file available. Im dissecting this file and also tried it in bl279. I imported all object and im trying to get the same render. WHich is really hard to pull of. Lights have changed, so i cant get that angle setting properly. Im now using the angle for size /10 or 100. BUt there is something weird. When i render it with World only, in bl 2.80 it get this blueish tint, while when i render the mixed world background separate it does not happen. Bl 2.79 does not have that blueish tint, atleast not that strong. Is this some kind of SSS happening on the skin perhaps?
@RomboutVersluijs5 жыл бұрын
Here's a difference from bl279 vs bl280 and bl281. There are some changes in multiple parts like princeable bsdf and some lighting items. I do winder why the bl280 shows a blueish glossy highlight. Almost feels wrong, because world map has only grey tints??? ibb.co/yFnhqmQ
@RomboutVersluijs5 жыл бұрын
But there are more differences. When i use nodewrangle and render only the normals of the head, they look quite different aswell. As if bl 280 and 281 read the image different?!? Blender 280 and 281 look like crap actually. The normals also show a non smoothed mesh, whiles in 3dview port its super smooth? ibb.co/9vmTYYn Looks like a bug right?
@RicoCilliers5 жыл бұрын
Hi man that sounds like a weird glitch, im not sure what it could be but the SSS may be the problem, because in the 2.8 principled shader there used to be a bug that made the blue tint if any of the values under Subsurface Radius are zero or very low. Try setting them a bit higher and see if it still happens.
@RicoCilliers5 жыл бұрын
The Subsurface Radius settings are just under the base color and Subsurface slider in the principled shader
@RicoCilliers5 жыл бұрын
Also if the SSS algorithim is set to Random Walk try changing it to Christensen-Burley.
