If you're like me and can't get used to selecting with the RMB youcan change it in the Preferences to the LMB. File>User Preferences and in the Input tab you van change it to Left. Just an FYI.

Over the past week I decided to try to learn how to use Blender through trial and error, and I managed to make some decent looking objects, but after watching this, I know for a fact that there's simply too much to learn going in blind. you can install an older version of blender, if you are a beginner than small changes to the interior of the application won't matter, as this tutorial will still be able to make sense. for reference, the version of blender used in this video is 2.78

lol, I'm having the same problem. I have 2.90.1 and _immediately_ things are diff. I left the opening screen he 'clicked away' at default, and select is defaulted to left click. Now I have _NO IDEA_ how to move or use the round cursor thingy. 10 mins in and already frustrated xD

It is in their playlists, you are able to follow along with the most recent version of blender 2.91. I downloaded blender yesterday and im basically going through anythng i can find related to 3D moddeling for tabletop wargaming scenery. Great video, really like how you took the extra effort to show the areas you clicked on and the keys used. Covering the basics and how to undo settings was extremely helpful. Some of the other introduction videos I watched just mention the action but not the icon and/or key used. Please continue to produce more videos and providing great step by step instructions.

Thank you so much for your awesome feedback! It's really nice and humbling to hear that my tutorials seem to prove helpful to others out there. I have no plan of stopping, I'll just add new software from time to time that I hope everyone will enjoy learning :)

I cannot thank you enough. VFX was my dream diploma, unfortunately I didn't manage to hit the requirements cause I had a crappy GCE O-level score ;v; I was forced to do IT for 3 years. Kinda enjoyed it at first, but a few things happened along the way and I started to loathe it. Now that I've graduated and we're in the midst of quarantine, it's pretty convenient for me to learn all this now! So once again, thank you so much.

I have been watching your tuts. for a while now. I learned something new in Houdini from you! I have been learning Houdini for a little while now. I have the Indie Houdini and would like to put a vote in for another of your "basics" tutorial if I may! Great stuff by the way! I know it's a lot of work.

Just about time..... pls do continue the series and as i a 3ds max and zbrush user ive always wanted to try blender and was really bad at learning it..... You made this easy for me and really wish to learn a lot from you :) cheers man

Loved the video! For some reason though, when I got to the part where we make a plane and add the lighting, my plane looks literally plain (no shine to it) and the lights will not work no matter how much I tweak the intensity settings. Not sure what happened along the way being I followed everything before it pretty exact. Either way, I really enjoyed this tutorial and I will continue following along! Thanks again!

Thank you for the feedback - great to hear you enjoyed the tutorial :) I wonder if you accidentally (shortcut key) changed your shading mode to flat. At the bottom of the 3D view you will find a shading mode selector (sphere icon), try changing that, that might do the trick :)
