there are so many valuable steps in this tutorial. i've completed the whole thing once, but i re-used the different steps countless times by now

Even though I just started using Blender yesterday i could follow up your instructions very easily due to your great explanation, I`ve learned alot and I can now start bigger projects. Your teaching skills are on point. Many thanks!

Brother, I loved the video and went to your profile and saw you quit 2 videos after this. The channel just started growing and you kept gaining a few K views every other video and someone that explains as well as you do to quit is a shame. I know I'm just a random comment on here but you really have a nice calming voice, great explanations and guidance for all the little things you do and it's a shame. Back to watching the rest of your videos now, peace!

17:37 there is actually a quicker way to select them. In the top view, face selection mode, select all the faces except the bottom line with the box selection, then select the middle_front group, the selection will combine together, and lastly, invert the selection.
@JP_Hatecrew5 күн бұрын
I think its easier to: select one of the front faces -> shift +G -> coplanar -> deselect the vertex group of the middle tilings

ugh, my boolean cut just absolute destroys my mesh! I followed the steps correctly and it still creates some broken pieces around the cut. How do I fix this? (nvm, I figured out I didn't have the difference set to fast. Great workflow mate!)

There is no followup on texturing, but for Blender/Cycles use, I would make a separate UV channel, do a simple project from view unwrap, then scale all the islands about its origins to collapse each "island" to points spread across UV space. Often 2D White Noise (use color output directly) won't work on UV data (due smoothing?), so I'm forced to use a regular 2D Noise (play with settings until you get some colored output) -> Separate HSV -> H channel through 1D White Noise. That gives you some random colors you can use for random offset per tile, scaling, and rotating the texture lookup. Can also add ObjectInfo/Random to H channel. Can use other channels for varying brightness and intensity of individual stones. This technique highly reduces the CG appearance of a repetitive texture and reduce the texture memory requirements. Can also mix in other techniques for breaking up repetitiveness.

There´s a way to select to front cylinder faster than manually selecting each one 1. left ortographic view 2. transparent view 3. select de front cylinder and front tiling with click drag 4. use the vertex group to deselect the front tiling
@JP_Hatecrew5 күн бұрын
Instead of doing steps 1-3, just select a face -> shift+G -> Coplanar -> step 4
@JP_Hatecrew4 күн бұрын

How did you manage to apply textures without unwrapping the roof ? And how would you go about unwrapping the roof ? I’m trying to learn to use substance to texture - but the unwrapping and texturing part is really holding me back.. if you and or anyone else can lend any advice please do

Hello, thank you for your amazing tutorial. I tried this by myself and encountered some weird bug when applying boolean operation as 31:16. It seems the whole bricks are separated instead of being nicely cut like the tutorial. Would you mind if I ask any advice? Thank you very much
@mikakemp4126 Жыл бұрын
I had a similar problem, i found that i needed to apply all transformations, move the origin point back to centre of mass(surface), then under solver options in the boolean modifer check the self intersection and hole tolerance boxes, it fixed my problem. If you check the box without applying all your transforms you end up with some nasty clipping geometry on the back of the model, hope this helps
@beardo_fit3160 Жыл бұрын
choose hole tolerant in solver options, the option is available in boolean modifier
