Have you seen the liquid chrome design trend? With geometry nodes we can smooth any curve until it looks like liquid, making it super easy to make any word look awesome just by writing it. It works just like the smooth modifier except you can use it within geometry nodes.
I got a new microphone and I'm still trying to make it sound right, so this one might sound a little different.

⚠ There is an easier way to do this with the blur attribute node! Watch this to learn more: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gV6vY5h_fdpqn8U Or Plug a position node into a blur attribute node, and plug that into the position slot of a set position node. That's it! It's much faster than the method in this video. Or you can just use a smooth modifier.

Since you already recommended enabling the Node Wrangler addon, the easiest way to add the environment texture in the world shader is to select the background node and press Ctrl+T, this will add Environment Texture, Mapping and Texture Coordinate nodes automatically already connected.

Great share. I really like the setup of drawing a curve and transforming that. I think one thing that would be cool is add-ons that make use of GeoNodes behind the scenes, but add in some menu tools that work in conjunction with that geonode setup. So, like a "cloud brush" where you can paint clouds in 3d space with the brush, but can always change the geonode setup too if want different properties of the shape, but could also have "tool properties" that are essentially input parameters to the geonodes setup, but the user won't have to open geonodes, just use the tool options. I think we'll start seeing a lot of add-ons like that soon.

I've seen a similar method using edge vertices some time ago, but it's too convoluted with all the Set Position nodes. You can just interpolate the Position Input to Edge using Interpolate Domain or Capture Attribute, and mix that with Position Input using a "MixVector" node group. That way you can use the mix factor as a Smooth factor. MixVector works similar to MixRGB, but I encourage to create them yourself since MixRGB usually have their factor clamped. I also hoped they would convert more modifiers into nodes. Only mimmicked some so far myself, including Cast, Displace, Smooth and Vertex Weight Proximity. Edit: Forgot to mention, interpolating to Edge would make it act more like the Smooth modifier. You can also interpolate to Face, which smoothes even more, and would need less iterations. Just interpolate between Face and Point as much as you want before setting the position.

@JoeyCarlino
@JoeyCarlino Жыл бұрын
It will look like it's sinking in instead of on top because of the thickness that is added, the actual curve IS on the surface. To get the effect you're talking about, you can find the normal of the face it's sitting on and displace it by the radius of the curve. It's not very easy to explain through text like this

@@JoeyCarlino Have you tried this yet? Looks like Blur Attribute node is live. EDIT: Fiddled a bit. Looks like you can do this smoothing operation with about 3 nodes. [Mesh] > [Set Position] > Output. Put a [Position] node into the socket of [Set Position], then drop [Blur Attribute] set to Vector onto the connection between and [Set Position]. Then each "Iteration" increase appears to be another level of smoothing.
