Neocolr wax pastels are 😍, I look forward to seeing you create with them. Jackson's in the UK is a great online store. They have very reasonable shipping rates and frequent sales. They don't charge UK VAT (19%) for orders outside the EU, making their prices even better. Prices in the USA are listed without sales tax, whic adds between 7 and 10% to the listed price. So lucky that you had family to bring you the art supplies.!

I love Jackson's! They have an amazing range of materials and some great specials. My husband has just returned from a work trip to the UK and brought back an order I placed, I will share it soon. But I also order for delivery to South Africa from them and it is definitely worth it. I order my Royal Talens Art Creation sketchbooks because you can't get them in South Africa sadly.

Glad you're doing better! Postage costs? Here in the U.S. it's just gotten ridiculous! It really has hurt buyers and sellers alike.

Agreed postage costs have almost doubled in the last 2 years. As an artist it has made sending artwork, especially larger artwork to overseas clients even harder. I now send all larger paintings off the stretchers and rolled in a tube. The drastic increase in shipping costs has also had a disastrous effect on art supplies in South Africa as most of our art materials are imported…and the weak ZAR currency doesn’t help either. So if I know of friends or family traveling to South Africa it’s cheaper to purchase in USA or UK and have the supplies brought over in their suitcase.

Blick does have brick and mortar stores. I shop in the Chicago area stores. You have to go to one of stores if uou can- beautiful things.

Blick does have stores you can actually walk into. I went to the store in Pasadena California.

Very interesting! Where the set of 15 caran d’ache neocolour 2 are currently $28 at blick, I just bought a set for $43 here in Canada. We pay 1.37 for US dollars! Then of course, as you noted, when ordering from the US, there’s shipping, taxes and duties added. Painting friends and I took a drive to the brick and mortar Blicks in Detroit a few years ago. We were disappointed to discover that the store stocked no where near the amount or variety of product available online! I’m glad you were able to receive the materials you’ve been desiring. @@jenneke2so sorry you had to pay almost double for your set. The import duties on art supplies are crazy. That must have been so disappointing to go to an actual brick and mortar store only to find they didn’t have a great selection of stock. The online space is amazing I can go down a real rabbit hole looking at all that is available. All so tempting! Thank you so much for watching and I hope you have a beautiful weekend.
