I'll admit one thing that as an LPer is, it's hard to find things to talk about if you're playing a platformer. It's why I mostly go to RPGs on my channel since I'm mostly acting out the characters in the story and every so often, I sidebar commentary on the little things. If anything else, I'm gonna go unfiltered and think if I want to give it a kick in the ass or not.

Definitely. Sometimes I like to go in with a topic or two prepared to dive into but a lot of it comes from looking for things in the game that remind me of other things and then shifting my focus to talking about that to fill in some of the time. Some of the best LPers are great storytellers and when a game starts getting repetitive it's nice to hear them talk about their lives for a while. I wouldn't consider myself a great storyteller and some people get annoyed when LPers talk about themselves but at the same time I don't just want to talk exclusively about the game because that kind of negates the point of having commentary. To me, an LP is watching somebody play a game and hanging out with them, seeing how they do things differently. I'll use walkthroughs if I'm stuck but mostly only for a couple of minutes. I equate it to sitting on a couch at a friend's house. I'll beat the game regardless but I'll start repeating myself ad nauseum after a few hours with how much filler is in some games. You already know I'm doing some filler sidequest, I don't have to keep repeating it lol
