SwordTune that’s not what happened she banished him but he wasn’t dead, he just couldn’t go to the school. But he found a way since he’s discord. And when she “Brought him back” she was just un-banishing him and there was no need for him to use his ghost instead of his body anymore. Therefore she did not kill him and his actions where not justified at all

Fun Fact: According to Nicole dubuc who wrote the episode the spell Starlight used would never hurt/effect him he just let it himself be hit to prove his point that she wasn't perfect for the job (He proved this even further that the spell didn't matter by trolling them a few minutes later). And apparently other MLP writers agreed the spell Starlight used would do nothing unless he allowed it

I mean, I understand the WHY. It's a school that "is for every creature" as Twilight put it, and Discord was never invited. To top it off, she put a reformed villain in charge that she had known for less time, was less capable than Discord, and was more ruthless a villain than he was. He got angry and frustrated because, with the exception of Fluttershy, nopony really gave him a solid chance at friendship. The only one who really keeps in contact in any form is Fluttershy, so what would that tell Discord (a creature with very little history in the way of friendship and its workings) about the relationships he had formed with the rest of the Mane Six? But yeah, endangering students crosses a line (though it's unclear whether they were in any actual danger, the bugbear could have been made of rubber or something for all we know)

When I watched the reaction I noticed something about the Bugbear's behavior. After Starlight blasted it with a normal energy laser(Albeit it looked a bit more intense than usual--probably due to her anger peaking), it took ran off. Whereas the one in "Slice of Life" fought all of the Mane Six at once and didn't even flinch or try to back away. What I'm saying is that Discord's bugbear was probably a lot weaker or less aggressive than the other one, so even if it did try to hurt the students, they could have fought it off without Starlight's help. Although I do wish there was a line in the episode where Discord implies that the students aren't in any "Real" danger or something like that. ...Probably a line that got cut from the episode last minute or something.

From Discord's point of view, I definitely can understand how he could be upset at not being I to the school. BUT given that Discord wanted to change things as soon as he got there, and how he acted when he was told "no", it's wonder they didn't ask him to help out at the school, and that's if he's even showed any signs that he might even want to do it, which would've made it his own fault even more. Not to mention that at this point, Twilight has a much closer bond with Starlight then with Discord, even to the point that Twilight and Starlight's bond has become a sisterly bond, and she KNOWS Starlight would do her best to run the school the way she wants, and not change something just because she feels like it. With Discord, as unpredictable as he can be, the question isn't CAN he run the school how Twilight wants it to be run, but will he feel like doing it her way?

And while he was making changes, gravity being optional (as in a student would be given an option, it's not like he said "no gravity") and adding a mascot where there was previously none aren't the most intrusive changes. He only starts doing bigger sweeps after he gets angry. Which I won't defend him for.

same here. He was more of an antagonistic dick than a reformed spirit of chaos. I enjoy his antics, but as long as nobody gets hurt or almost gets hurt. HE DIDN'T EVEN APOLOGIZE!!!!! Why was it Starlight that had to apologize!? That's like a metaphor for victim blaming. Even if it was to defuse the situation, that is so wrong! Discord learned nothing and was rewarded for bad behavior. These writers for season 8 suck! ):(

I didn't understand why Starlight had to apologize to him....If anything Fluttershy his supposed girlfriend(Not exactly canon but it's been hinted at) should have invited him to the school....But he totally went the WRONG way about it! This episode made me rethink forgiving Discord, I never really liked him, but I did forgive him so that should count for something

A reason Starlight apologized was because while Discord didn't exactly make it clear, he was giving signs that something was bothering him, but Starlight didn't pick it up, which she more or less said at the end. And if you know Starlight's character, you should know that if she feels like she's in the wrong in any way, she's usually gonna apologize, even if no one would fault her if she didn't do it. It's one of the reasons why she's one of my favorite characters in the show. Though, I do call BS in how the episode's ending made HER look too much like the villain, and made Discord look like the victim: that's what I didn't like. But as for Starlight apologizing in itself, it really makes sense for her to want to do it, and it checks out.

Trixie, Spitfire, and Maud would all make great substitute teachers. Maud can teach them geology, while also helping them with any existential trauma. Spitfire can teach them about how to forget any lesson they learn within 1 moon, using FIW’s definition of moon. Trixie can scare them into never using any of the many, many drugs that she obviously uses.

Now did Discord truly mess with the map, or did the map use reverse psychology on Discord? We know that the map can defend its self, and Discord did learn a friendship lesson from Starlight. Also Starlight might represent the element of empathy, which has yet to be fully realized.

Here's a question for you all: Was the banishment spell Starlight used on Discord some variant of the spell that Neighsay used in the premiere to lockdown the school? ---Both spells kept someone(In this case Discord) physically out of the school. ---Both seemed to require a similar spell beam to break the spell. The only primary difference here, is that Neighsay kept everyone out of the school whereas Discord was specifically banished. ---And Starlight(As far as I know) had never shown knowledge of that spell until after she witnessed someone use a spell like that to seal the school from outsiders. Anyone have anything to add/detract?
