Looks to be doing great! Aggressive plants int their own containers is a pro gardener tip that all gardeners (sighted or not) benefit from. A few tips from a long time gardener. I noticed that you put stakes on at the heads of the rows that's great. Braille tags on the stakes would help. (I suspect that you did this all ready). Zucchini are prolific producers. When fully grown the plants can take up as much as 3 feet of space each (both horizontally and vertically). They need a 2nd plant for cross pollination to do really well but 2 plants will produce far more than 2 people can hope to eat in a single summer so make sure you share the love with family and friends. Tomatoes are native to South America. North American soil is missing a mineral that allows tomatoes to do better (magnesium sulfate). Its best to put a tablespoon of Epsom salts (magnesium sulfate) in with your compost and top soil that you mix up and put in around each tomato plant. If you didn't do that when you planted you can still compensate by watering the plants once every 2 weeks with a solution of 1 teaspoon of Epsom salt per liter of water. You will get bigger and juicier tomatoes that have more flavor. If the lower leaves of the plant wilt and turn yellow you can cure this somewhat by spraying the plant's leaves with that same solution. Potatoes are also native to South America. Like tomatoes, green pepper, and egg plant they are members of the nightshade family. The green parts (leaves and stem) of the plant are toxic to humans and dogs. Harvested potatoes that are left in the light will turn green. Eating green potatoes won't kill you but it can make you ill. Make sure that you keep them in a cool dark place. The other thing that is a great trick with nightshades is that they will re-root if they fall over. There are tiny little hairs all along the stem of the plants. If those get covered over by dirt they will become roots. You can actually plant tomato plants at a diagonal to make sure that you have good rooting. The sun will make sure that the adult plant is straight. Which brings us to potatoes. Every couple of weeks you should "hill up" your potato plants. Pull the bottom couple of leaves off the stem and cover the stem up with another couple of inches of dirt pulled from around the plant. Taking off the lower couple leaves assure that they won't rot when you bury the stem and the little hairs on the stem will turn into extra roots that will in turn produce more potato tubers. When you dig them up at the end of the year the small potatoes will be near the top of the hills and the larger potatoes will be at the bottom. Another tip for blind gardening. Bruising a leaf on a mature plant will give off an odor particular to that type plant. With practice you can tell what plant is what, by smell, even before they start producing.

You are spot on. I do have braille labels on my stakes. :) I definitely do identify some plants by their smell but didn’t think to mention it. That is a great tip I’ll mention in the next video.

Another tip for gardening at ground level. Get a foam silicone kitchen mat (I have one that is about 1 inch thick) kneel on that to protect your knees and sit on it to protect your backside. Guaranteed to eliminate bruising in those tender spots.

Hi Tamara, what a lovely mixture of smells and textures, in your beautiful vibrant, well put together Garden. Its a true Joy, that a garden h the smells, the feeling of planting, the feeling of earth inbetween ones fingers. I moved recently to an appartment, its modern, and easy for orientation, but it, does'nt have a balcony, nor garden. I had a garden around the house, I recently moved from. After watching your video, I plan to move again, in the same area, to a place with a little garden again, and a balcony. I've really missed it this year, planting seeds, and waiting for Them to grow, it's so very enjoyable. Thank you for sharing, as you Always do make, an enjoyable fun well put together, video, ,that leaves One, always smiling. Thank you Tamara. Kind regards Tony from Scandinavia

Thanks Tony! So very true. I lived in an apartment for many years with no access to a garden and I missed it every year. I tried container gardening, kitchen counter gardening, and houseplants but nothing quite scratched the itch like getting outfit and properly frying your hands dirty and watching your hard work turn into something wonderful. :)

Stepping stone twins! That’s awesome. Maybe we should paint ours as well. That sounds so fun! It’s my favourite when you can start seeing things pop up and turn into the plants you cared for without knowing if it’s going to work. Very exciting! :)

Wow, this is wonderful. I would love to one day live in a place where I can try my hand at gardening. To be honest, I'm a little intimidated but I think that comes from lack of knowledge and experience. I was born in Vietnam and lived there for the first six years of my life. My grandparents were avid gardeners, so during my eary childhood, I was exposed to nothing but homegrown fresh foods. These days, I try to buy as many organic vegetables and fruits as possible, but man, they aren't the same. I'm so glad you can do this. Thanks for sharing.

It’s absolutely worth a try I’d it’s something you are interested in. The key is being kind and patient with yourself. No one is a perfect gardener and if you can let go of high expectations it’s quite relaxing and you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how well things do. The biggest beginner tip I can leave you is I killed many plants over the years from over-caring and not nearly so many from letting them do their thing. Plants are resilient and will tolerate a lot :)

@@UnsightlyOpinions Thanks for your tips. I'll keep them in mind when I start. Maybe someday if we ever connect privately or in future videos, I'll share some of my... ummm plant stories if they're relevant to your content. Side note: I can't stand leaving irrelevant comments that have nothing to do with a creater's content.
