I’m a purple belt in Bjj currently,and many have said that once you make it to purple, you can definitely make it to black, but your belting speech is very touching and encouraging to me in an endeavor that I am accomplishing by just enjoying the journey. Big congratulations to you and thanks for the inspirational video. Just jumping out on a limb to say this, I personally would like to see you do a TedTalk about the ups and downs of your journey to black belt. I hope a platform like that opens up for you as well for oration of what you have accomplished that few can stay around to actually finish (rising through the ranks of BJJ). Congratulations Sir! What an amazing achievement. I train in Taekwondo, and we have a blind woman with Cerebral Palsy. Of course her balance is off, and yet she just made 1st degree black belt! Martial Arts isn't for everyone and can be quite challenging, as it is for myself as my current rank. I can only imagine doing it with any disability. That takes so much heart. "Make dreams, don't kill them" was the perfect way to end your speech and the exact words I needed to hear right now. I discovered you almost 5 years ago when I first got into jiu jitsu and I spent so much time looking through your instagram feed and just being so inspired as a brand new white belt. After a ton of time off due to the pandemic and more injuries than I can count, I'm a blue belt with 3 stripes hell bent on getting my purple. This speech and your journey just inspire me to keep going. Thank you so much. I wish you all the best in your life journey and in jiu jitsu. And a MASSIVE congratulations on earning a black belt. I'm convinced nobody can understand how much that means until they get there, myself included.
