I didn't know about this song because it was a bonus I guess. I'm glad actually because it was a great surprise on a day I was feeling especially down. I love this band, it always takes me far away from my problems and greets me again throughout the years! Each time I revisit their works it is like visiting an old friend. Timeless and not bound too this realm, blind guardian opens doors into another world for me and I am eternally greatful.

Hansi recently confirmed on episode 10 of "powerful. a power metal podcast" that 'Doom' was one of two songs (along with 'The Tides of War'[?]) that they didn't manage to finish for Nightfall in Middle-Earth, and (!!!) that they will be on their new vinyl version of NiME (hopefully later this year!)! Doom - which in this version was of course altered to fit 'Beyond the Red Mirror' better - will have its original lyrics there. Can't wait!
@TheKiteLegacy6 жыл бұрын
New vinyl of NiME? Are they doing this with the rest of their releases too? Forgive me, I'm not exactly tapped into Blind Guardian news as of late, but I would KILL to have both that and a few others on vinyl!
@Torzelan6 жыл бұрын
They're currently taking preorders for a new run of their first four albums (media.nuclearblast.de/shoplanding/2018/BlindGuardian/reissues.html) and, as mentioned, Hansi spoke explicitly about NiME too (kzbin.info/www/bejne/f53GpWOGgNuUqdU) "hopefully at the end of the year". So things are looking good, seems reasonable to speculate that soon after this first batch of four we can look forward to not only NiME but also Imaginations etc!

I don't mind bonus tracks on re-release albums, but when they do it like this it really takes advantage of fans who pre-ordered the first one. They released one CD, then a second one with a bonus track, Distant Memories, then a big fancy third one with yet another bonus track, Doom. I refuse to buy it until a version with all tracks is readily available. I'm hoping they have the full album at a reasonable price at the show in a few months. Epica did it even worse with their last album. They had the first release, followed by five different versions with five different bonus tracks. That means if you bought the first one you would need six copies of the album to get all tracks... SIX!! ridiculous. ...and they wonder why people download.

@@Leyrann Well, first of all, in my opinion it is the best song of that album. Secondly, it's actually an unfinished song that was meant to be in Nightfall in Middle-Earth with slightly changed lyrics. Thirdly, both versions are awesome. It's really only the lyrics that are different and not by all that much, but the difference really carries meaning and is impactful.

@@smnfdf53257 what are you blabbering about, this album was fucking epic, and most all bands die out quicker by barely changing, id say they are creating masterpieces with their own sounds, so progressively they get somewhere to fit an album/song in a unique tone and arrangement, ninth wave was epic, loved at the edge of time, sacred mind and the finale and true end, grand parade and doom, truly a fitting sound for a concept album sequel to imaginations
@smnfdf532576 жыл бұрын
@@alphacritter5398 I'm sick of fantasy tales. Imaginations from the Other Side was not bad overall, some songs better than the others, but this new shit is way too much fantasy shit to the point of absurdity. Listen to Judas Priest instead, they actually sing about real fucking life . I end my venting. I was the biggest Blind Gaurdian fan ever , but At the Edge of Time was OK , I liked the direction, but Beyond the Red Mirror was a step too far. I started listening to Judas Priest and Ozzy more. Everything before At the Edge of Time was pretty much fair.

@@thecreator625 I would have never thought of that, thank you !! But now, what are your sources? I'll have to study up on it
@thecreator6256 жыл бұрын
@@smnfdf53257 Nevermind what I said, I misread something. Anyway, what you're saying is more something about personal taste and doesn't have that much to do with the band itself. Because as a band, Blind Guardian is staying true to its roots while also developing. Like almost anything, you can outgrow an individual band or your taste in music can change. But that's what you can expect from Blind Guardian. Fantasy/Mythology related songs. Nevermind how much they've done about Tolkien's Middle Earth, almost every single song in At the Edge of Time (which you've listed as a "good" album despite preferring realism in music) is a reference to a specific fantasy book or series. Wheel to Time and Tanelorn literally have the names of these books in their title. Ride into Obsession also is about the Wheel of Time books, in the game Sacred 2, Blind Guardian are featured as characters in a concert singing Sacred Worlds... If you prefer realism in music, that's your opinion. I can appreciate both. That's fine and all, but don't expect others to respond kindly when you pretty much say that the band itself sucks with how much they've changed. That's asking for backlash. Not that you'll get much of it here since barely anyone comments on this particular video.

no morded is the fallen son and he's considered like a playing piece to the nine whilst they play their games so he decides that instead of playing his part that he'll destroy them and the Savior since the destiny he was given was never what he wanted, forced to be labeled a tyrant instead of a king I think...that's what I got out of mordeds song on imaginations from the other side which is the first part of this story, but this song does seem to leave out a definite end suggesting the next album might follow what happens whilst he's in the world because the nine said he is destined to claim the throne so he might still have a sliver of a chance but I do not know yet...

+Brandon Wheeler Oooooh could you please point me to sources that explain the story in this level of detail? Listening to the lyrics I've only gotten so far ~ my perceptions' changed over time as to what it could mean, quite a few things and stuff, where this story was all written by them.
@alphacritter53988 жыл бұрын
ahums16 the entire album is a continuation of imaginations from the other side
@ahums168 жыл бұрын
Brandon Wheeler Oh, I know it's a 'sequel' to it all, leaving off with the boy looking into the mirror to the other dimension, this album proceeding with 'what if he didn't enter'. It's not the entire album either, for instance 'The Script for my Requiem', which is about a soldier in the Crusades who travels to the Holy Land, and struggles to his very core with the morality of it all, and suffers from PTSD of the things they did in the name of a God who is loving. Do you know any details about Beyond the Red Mirror? Like what's the ending's Grand Parade and Doom? I've had several interpretations of everything but lately it sounds like the universe of no gods is prevailing over the one with gods, and they're happy with their 'enlightenment' initially but they're then sealed away into damnation with their false savior by the very forces they denied. I do not know if this includes the fate of the 'heroes' or not. And often times the songs seem to switch between the viewpoints of both universes and it's hard to distinguish who's the protagonist and who's the antagonist since it seems both sides have their specific labels for everything good and evil. Also the themes of Sheol (I believe is the place Hansi speaks of? I forget it's name), but I remember it's an ancient form of Hell where everyone good and evil went, and it wasn't a place of happiness but misery. 'Take a look and see it's all the same' is a repeating theme when it's brought up, like both sides no matter what are heading towards this fate and it can't be stopped, it doesn't matter and that this truth is 'a demon, the cruelest of all'. Do you know anything of this?? I've been wondering about this since this album was released almost two years ago. X3

+Juan Vergara Therein lies the beauty of music. It can be interpreted in very different ways by different people. I may disagree with you, but I love that you have such a wildly contrasting read on it. I disagree primarily because I'd be surprised that they would put a Middle Earth track on an album more akin to Imaginations From the Other Side. Also, there actually was a song called Harvest of Sorrows completed. It was included as a bonus track on the re-release of NIME, also A Night at the Opera. It's not about Feanor though. I originally thought it was about the vanishing of Melian, but I think it's based on Turin.
