In regards to Chibi being old I’m 36 and have been an anime fan since Toonami first air and remember even before that seeing Galaxy Express 999 when I was maybe 8-9 so mid 90s. I don’t have a job involving anime like he does so mine is purely being a fan where as he’s a fan but also I imagine makes a living talking about anime. Just an odd take to me someone bringing up his age. Been a subscriber for many years and he’s always came off as a nice guy and puts out great content and enjoy listening to his takes on anime topics

Honestly the way they talk about chibi or get mad at him just for posting a manga or anime stuff that is of a controversial scene. You would think he stabbed somebody the way they talk about him. They genuinely treat him like a monster. I like Chibi a lot, he was the first english anime youtuber i met and one of the first that at the time didn't treta Re:Zero like trash just because people weren't into the show (that's right kids, before Mushoku tensei released it was "trendy" to hate on re:zero), Chibi have some bad takes from time to time, yeah, but he is usually very chill and friendly and i feel sad he is attacked like that. I hope things get better for him soon, he deserves happiness

Chibi reviews gotta be one of the prime examples of people just hating for the sake of it. They’ll twist his words or make shit up about him so everyone hates on him for the sake of it. Like it’s genuinely concerning how much hate he gets and how everyone justifies it.

I find some of these complaints hilarious, mostly because of how popular games of thrones was. If it's in anime then it's creepy and weird, if it's live-action its ok. If you put most of what these people complain about on a HBO show they would probably hale if as one of the greatest, ambitious shows of all time.

This is another big problem that came from anime getting to mainstream. Anime KZbinrs have gotten hate too and get ridiculed too. it’s not just animes that get hate and cancelled it’s also the anime KZbinrs. You can’t be a anime KZbinr today and say you like yosuga no sora and show of your figures etc like you could before.

He's a chill person, i like him personally but sometimes as you said he overexaggerated things especially the titles but as i watch his videos (most of the times) he explained well of course not perfect, some misinformation here and there that needed to be corrected which is the comments correct him he just needed to check it himself but yeah the people that lash out on to him is not any better especially when he's getting doxxed by some mentally illed boruto fans.

Chibi has my respect, I no longer follow his content because I didn't liked how he do the reviews at one point, but I just left. I never do attack people because I don't like their format anymore, I think that is just good manners. I think I only commented once in his video that I don't like the direction he is heading and that is all. I have nothing against loli fans, after all some of my favorite characters in anime are Mina Tepes from Dance in the vampire bund and Shalltear from Overlord. I avoid following content creators too much on X/Twitter because there is always drama there. My girlfriend made me promise that I would never become a youtuber because she knows how bad I take critics so she wanted me to stay healthy and not become a target for some random haters, so I started to respect that with time and I can only imagine how bad Chibi and you are getting that daily.

I used to like the guy but at some point I started to dislike many of his attitudes so I just stopped following him, what were those attitudes you may ask, there were a series of videos in which he gave false information, obviously without corroborating it before publishing it, and he never admitted his mistakes despite the fact that there were people who commented on those same videos highlighting his misinformation and giving the correct information that were never answered by him but at the same time a random comment kissing his feet right above the comment correcting him had a like and a comment in response, I don't like lying people and even less those who don't recognize mistakes. Another thing that I started to dislike about him is that he gradually started to become a camouflaged "reactor", he exaggerated all his comments and reactions to points that caused embarrassment to watch and he wasn't like that, this is obviously a very personal matter because I prefer an honest opinion without exaggerations, like yours, those of otaku spirit and others of that style. His videos became terribly sensationalist, this goes hand in hand with my first point, one of his misinformation videos was about how crunchyrol censored an anime (I don't remember which one now) and made a scandal about it when in reality the series in question was sold already censored from Japan and crunchyrol was not to blame for anything, for those who don't know many times there are two versions of an anime and from Japan the rights to broadcast the censored version are sold while the one that is uncensored is exclusive to Japan, that was just an example but I saw him do it many times and it is what motivated me to stop following him, just to be clear im not playing devils lawyer haha crunchyrol has done some terrible things but in this case in particular they werent the one to blame.

Its an interesting read and I do agree that his content has shifted over the years and I would like to do a full brake down of Chibi's past and were he has gone. But I think there are many many layers to this, and a lot of blind hate, and a lot of fair critical points at him.

I've been watching Chibi Reviews since he started on KZbin. It's been on and off over the years. However, on the whole, he's been an OK reviewer. I really do believe that people don't understand how incredibly young he was when he started.. In my eyes, he's still very young. I've literally watched him grow into a man on the internet. Do I agree with some of the takes that he has on subjects. Has he Had some misguided or bad takes, absolutely. I've been watching anime since the 80s. And my views and takes have definitely changed in these many decades. People have forgotten to give others grace When needed. The Advent of technology online has turned many people into Self-absorbed narcissistic creatures. These people hide behind the screen and say and do anything with no conscience. It's sad when people will pick out a person to bully because they think that they can. Some of the things that Chibi Has gone through because of people on the internet is extremely eye-opening.. I am surprised in some ways that he is still in the business of KZbin. I know he's been doxed and stocked Threatened also I think he had a grave Desecrated and I'm sure a whole lot more. Him still being able to be online and speak on what he enjoys says a lot about him in spite of all the things that's happened to him over the years.

Personally, I still like chibi. I understand there are valid criticisms, how he started to focus more on drama, he has gotten info wrong before(the tweet from the kengan creator where he framed it as saying to pirate his series, when in reality he was talking about how they hired the pirates to make the official translation), him occasionally getting too political, etc. I would bring up the drama stuff, but that just feels like what has happened to the anime community as a whole. So many new age ‘fans’ cause problems constantly, so as an anime creator he kinda has to acknowledge it to some extent. I can agree however that he focuses just a little too much on it. The issue is the people who go way overboard. He isn’t his audience, yet they cherry pick a handful of tweets to claim whatever horrible things they want. And don’t even get me started on what happened with dandadan.

But the same PPL called shows which are hard to watch for average viewers like MT a pdf just cause they watch it, for a while know i believe the anime community as becoming bigger has started have separated into multiple sub space and the community is no longer a one big community (To note the anime community always was seperated into smaller spaces but not to this extent) and is causing continuous fighting between them

@@EspirituOtaku I’m definitely not going to get too much into politics and such, but that’s kinda my point… Him getting into political discussions at all no matter who he likes and or voted for is a bad move because non political commentators usually stay away from that stuff because it’s toxic, It’s his right of course, but… On a side note, I have my own reasons why I don’t really care for Chibi much anymore (was a subscriber back in the day) but I simply unsubscribed and moved on. I see tweets from him from time to time.

I get not wanting politics from a content creator that say covers what we cover and I try my best to stay clear of politics on any deep level. But same time people try and push us into politics daily. One of those were we are doomed if we don't, doomed if we do. Just today I seen a tweet of his none politics based and one person in the comments trying to push for a reply on the topic of politics, its a hard battle for sure.
