I was one of those that dismissed Blind Melon when they were around. Looking back I blame it on poor choice of singles. No Rain is good, but IMO it is my least favorite song on their debut. I only listened to anything other than No Rain and Galaxie a few months ago. Sure wish I had listened to their debut back in the day. Shannon is so underrated, as is the rest of the band...

been listening to blind melon since September, inspired to play guitar by them, just fell in love another blind melon song. The chords and his voice are quite literally the essence of beautiful music. i don't know how to legitimately describe this but...I love the archaic recording that this song possesses. @thunderkisstsky fortunately and happily discovered this song on one of the 3 or 4 Melon Patch CD's. the power of this song is strong and frightening yet soothing ("her hands are held out to for you"). yet he speaks truth whether that be the soulfulness of his voice or the fellow bandmates that played this song with the HEART deservingly so.

@TheBrosEpic "but who is going to notice?" It shouldn't matter who notices, whats the worth behind gaining someone's attention? It will only lead to judgement whether it be good or bad. It matters that YOU noticed, that Shannon Hoon noticed, connection is powerful but its your connection to have, and its importance is all in your mind.

@serge59709 жыл бұрын
+Du kkha he says "but I know we can't all stay here forever, so I want to write my words on the face of today, and then they'll paint it " it's irony I suppose leaving his mark on the face of time so he can stay forever but then they'll paint over it.

+Du kkha That appears to be English. Yeah F'it you can make your mark anywhere they'll just paint it over. It's all fleeting, the sooner we all come to terms with that the better off we all are. You can be an amazing artist like our dearly departed Hoon, ain't gonna make a shit in the end. They're just gonna paint it. And that's OK.

In the song change it's just a trippy expression of pure word play. Write my words on the face of today, then I'll paint it. (Until they paint me) showing mortality
Lyrics "The skies have darkened and the seas have dried. Your honest ways have turned to lies. Your hands of promise turned to hands of pain. You take for granted the life that God create The life that God created. The frost and flowers Mother gave to you, the muffled whispers bleeding true. And it doesn't matter how what kind of eyes your looking through. Do you see our Mother's dying? Here's a picture for you. I wanna paint this picture for you! With every black choking for breath and every inch closer to death. Her hands are held out for you. You said the reasons we're in the cities that we all made was that we rage our poor Mother. Poor Mother. Poor Mother. Now that she's leaving and she's thrown off all that she gave, we dig the grave of our poor Mother! The grass ain't growing in my front yard, no. Poor Mother. Poor Mother.
