Thank you for the lesson. I have a question though. You seem to play the second position D chord (like the E), which makes perfect sense, but the diagram shows the first position. Am I correct on this?

Either will work. The version he demonstrated sounds a bit better because you get the main note in the chord twice instead of the fifth of the chord, but the version in the diagram is a bit easier to play in most cases (although not really in this case since you just have to slide the shape down) and will work just fine except for the little intro riff. I'm guessing that the diagram graphics he uses are more beginner oriented.
