Changeling magic is ilusion_based (otherwise they will just become bigger for melee fights like the one on the S2 finale with the mane six). This is also why they do not hide as objects like a chair or table, as touching or placing things in the parts were there is only air would reveal the disguise. Since all of them can fly and use telekinesis, even mimicking a large creature like Discord and wearing or manipulating something with his "claws" is feasible.

This season premiere seems like "The Best Night Ever" because this one was not a two-parter like the others and it was a special engagement type of episode. I was expecting a little more but, it's easy to cope with. I really did enjoyed this one though. It was great to see some familiar faces, including great moments with Princess Celestia too.

Finally getting to this. First episode you're watching after being fully caught up. 1. 1:13 Wow, I hope not. The fandom would explode. 😝 Anyway, I don't think ponies become alicorns in a ceremony. If Twilight is any indication, the ceremony only happens after the fact. 2. 3:34 Actually, what he said was he didn't know if he was in this season. A lot of people misinterpreted that to mean he wouldn't be in the season, but that's not really what he said. 3. 5:54 I'm still very much of the opinion that Celestia didn't turn Twilight into an alicorn, but that it's something that happens naturally, similarly to how ponies get their cutie marks. 4. 7:40 I love Spike in this episode. His interaction with Twilight here is just great. 5. 13:20 Nah, Torch just looks smaller in this scene because he's further from the camera than the other dragons. Look at how big Starlight is on his back for comparison. 6. 16:34 Yeah you're right. She didn't get accepted into Celestia's school until after she got her cutie mark. I guess that's an animation error? 7. 18:32 We finally got a Celestia episode... sort of. 8. 19:44 Yeah, pretty weird that they didn't do a two-parter for the premiere this time. 9. 21:37 Haha, you forgot about that _already_? Luna gave it to her in the ceremony at the start of the episode, remember? XD

3. I actually believe that she got Discord to make her an Alicorn, it was only a few episodes prior when Celestia said that she could use Discords power for good instead of evil, she said ti could be very useful. If you think about it, Discord has been known to take away and give back wings/horns, he did it with a snap of his fingers in Season 2's premiere, and from what we know he can do far more crazy things, rip holes on the fabric of reality and send ponies to other dimensions, as shown in Season 5 Episode 7 after he threatened to send Tree Hugger to another world. Plus, when has Celestia in all the time Discord has been good, ever used his magic for anything useful? The only one time that it could have happened is the Season 3 Finale, Discord wasn't shown the whole episode, but after Twilight finished her test she became an Alicorn, I am willing to bet that his magic was the cause of it. And before you say, simply giving ponies both wings and horns doesn't make them an Alicorn, because Alicorn's have different magic as well. I believe with Discords pretty much endless power, he is able to give a pony Alicorn magic if he wants to. Obviously Celestia put him up to the job.

BronyBurningAxe Ooo, really interesting theory. I have trouble believing it though for a few reasons. 1) This just doesn't really seem like the sort of thing Discord would do. Despite his reformation, Discord is still the Lord of Chaos. He seems far more interested in causing problems for the Mane 6 than solving them, and when he does end up helping them it's usually in a such a indirect, chaotic way that it's hard to say for sure whether he was actually _trying_ to help them or just causing mischief as usual. Discord just snapping his fingers and solving the main character's problems for them (or in this case, turning Twilight into an alicorn) just doesn't seem his style. 2) While there's no explicit explanation in the show itself of where Cadance came from, it seems pretty likely from context that she's significantly less than 1000 years old, and it doesn't seem like she's a natural-born alicorn either (with Flurry Heart being the first such alicorn born in Equestria, according to Celestia and Luna) so how did she become an alicorn while Discord was still trapped in stone? 3) We actually did see Discord "using his powers for good" once when he went to catch Tirek, so season 3 is most definitely not "the only one time that it could have happened". Not to mention there's no particular reason to believe that Celestia had any specific task in mind when she decided to reform Discord. 4) The visual effects during Twilight's transformation scene seem to imply that the magic which caused her transformation came from Twilight herself, not from some outside force. There is another, similar theory about Discord though I once read which you may find interesting, and that's that he was directly involved in helping Twilight discover the Keys of Friendship she needed to unlock the chest at the end of season 4: reddit.com/ This one seems a bit more plausible to me IMO, as it's backed up with a lot more evidence from the show.

1) Well I think he would not want to do it, but considering he most likely wanted to stay on Celestia's good side after being reformed, he could later plan some way t cause mischief if the mane 6 were off guard and couldn't use the elements against him. (A.K.A. The finale of Season 4 with Tirek) I don't think Twilight being an Alicorn would be able to stop him, it'd be no different to her being a unicorn, he was easily able to stop Celestia and Luna and the mane 6 in Season 2. His only downfall were the elements. So her becoming an Alicorn wouldn't really stop him from anything. 2) Ok... that actually is a good point that i didn't think of XD Ummm... welp... that's my theory out the window! 3) Fair play. 4) Yeah... That does sound interesting, I will have to look that up :)

1) I feel like he'd need a much stronger motivation than that. Even in _Keep Calm and Flutter On_ when the idea of Discord getting turned back to stone was still a strong possibility, he seemed to have no qualms about testing the limits of what he could get away with. And if he was unconcerned then with the idea of pissing off the only ponies in Equestria capable of turning him back to stone, I kinda doubt he'd much care what Celestia thought of him. Loved this episode! While it wasn't like a regular season premiere where there's this big baddie it was still great, although the season 4 premiere or the season 6 premiere didn't have a big baddie either. felt more like a normal slice of life episode then a premiere. But, I love this episode. It's weird, even though it was about Starlight it felt more like a Celestia episode, I loved her in this. It was so great! I just loved what they did with Celestia in this episode, also why am I still surprised by what Pinkie Pie does? lol. Great reaction and can't wait for more! XD.

Celestia had a valid worry about a Manticore attack, because that "problem" in the nearby Everfree Forest was probably the reason she was on Ponyville talking with Mayor Mare on the first place. -> She just noticed while she was there how different kinds of ponies seem to be good friends in that town [relative to the enforced racism in the clasist Canterlot]. Same thing with the broken security on Tartarus, as she knew for a fact that a Bugbear somehow escaped from it [she had to stop sending new monsters there and shutdown the whole Black_Ops "Anti-Monster Agency" not much long before it, based on the account of Bonbon]. For all the spying she was doing on Twilight, she did not realized how much Moondancer, Lyra and Minuette seem to like Twilight even with her tendency to avoid conversations.
