Dunno if this was mentioned but wasn't there an MLP con planned in Las Vegas around the same time where something similar happened (planners ran away and left attendees and horse show guests stranded etc.)? I feel bad for people who go to conventions just to have a great time only to end up sapped of their dollars by folks who couldn't plan large events properly :(

It was originally going to be called Tumblrcon but since the event organizers didn't own the rights to Tumblr, they were afraid of getting sued they just called it Dashcon.
