An explanation for the cinematics: 1st cinematic shows the creation of a Terran (that is human) marine. Many marines are recruited from convicts, because their casualty numbers in battle are horrific. They are some of the weakest units on the battlefield, but make up for it with sheer numbers. It showcases the sheer scale the wars are fought on, when the expendable grunts are given this level of tech and armor. This particular marine is Tychus Findley, who plays a large role in the story of the first part. 2nd cinematic shows the Zerg swarm invading the Terran homeworld. It is a dream, yes - but it is almost prophetic in nature. Sarah Kerrigan used to be the leader of the swarm, and did horrible and evil things as her mind was twisted by becoming a Zerg-Human hybrid. This is her fear of returning to becoming that monster, combined with her lingering desire for revenge on the man responsible for letting her get turned in the first place. It showcases how utterly devastating and horrifying the Zerg swarm can be - completely overwhelming even the most fortified human city in the galaxy. And yes - that was a spaceship crashing from orbit - while the ground battle is going on, there is bound to be heavy fighting in space at the same time. 3rd cinematic is of one of the early battles in the reclamation of the Protoss homeworld. This world was lost to the Zerg swarm years ago, but as the Zerg on the planet have lost their leadership, they have reverted to a feral state, and the Protoss are making an attempt at retaking the planet. The goal of the fight is simple - set up a Pylon, that can act as a focus point to teleport down their armies. This small force is meant to protect the Pylon while it is setting up, but are expected to suffer heavy casualties while doing so. They have all volunteered for the mission. The green goop that kills one of the Protoss warriors is actually a really strong acid - his personal shield protect him from the first impacts, but it goes down before he takes the third hit that kills him. Only the most powerful of the Protoss are capable of merging together as shown in the trailer. The resulting "Archon" is immensely powerful, but usually only has a lifespan in hours or days before they burn themselves out. It is used only as a last resort, as it sacrifices two already powerful warriors for immense but temporary firepower. When the Archon in the trailer is pinned against the wall, they deliberately burns themselves out, taking the giant Zerg (called an Ultralisk) with them in the implosion.

@@Burneth_ Hello fellow Protoss fan. Yes, Protoss is my favorite race, but I actually main BW Terran. A pity, but I just have to go with the race that suits my playstyle. But the real reason I had so much more to say about the Protoss cinematic, is just that it is showcasing so much more of what the race is, and how they function than the other cinematics. The Terran trailer shows a Marine being recruited... and that's about it. The Zerg trailer shows Leviathans, Zerglings, Hydralisks, Ultralisks, Nydus Worms with a cameo from The Queen of Blades. But the strategy showcased is simply "flood with units", and and none of the units does anything more complex than run their opponents down. Ironically, the trailer actually showcases the Terran strategies more prominently than the Zerg. The Protoss trailer shows Zealots, Probes, High Templar and an Archon. And here their tactics and overall strategic goal is a key part of the narrative. We get to see exactly why each member of the squad is there, and how their combination of technology, skills, mentality and innate abilities make them a force on the battlefield despite being outnumbered.

The StarCraft story is one of the better one in games. The first StarCraft explains a lot about this (it's a harder game then SCII though so if you are only in it for the story you might like the cheat codes). The phrase "Hell, it's about time" plays on how much time got between StarCraft I and StarCraft II. Both games have some strong character development in them as well.

Harder default maybe, SC II in brutal is capable of being much harder.

@@jlowe8059 I found SCII brutal less difficult then the last levels of SCI. Especially unlocking the bonus level.

@roepi Well SC1 mechanics are tougher so if you have problems with the mechanics anything can be harder, but majority of people will say SC2 on brutal is a good bit tougher than SC1 and requires more apm from the player.

@@jlowe8059 It doesn't matter what the cause of added difficulty is. The apm needed on brutal vs the computer isn't that high either btw. I did find the margin of error in the later SCI levels smaller then in SCII. I suppose it's subjective but overall I do find more recent game less frustrating to finish then old games. New games have more complex puzzles but I find them generally more forgiving.

@@roepi It matters because SC1 is old and has old school mechanics. You have to juggle way more control groups to play somewhat optimally. If you struggle with that anything can be hard. Both games can be cheesed, but assuming you don't cheese, there are multiple levels in SCII brutal that most people would consider much harder than SC1 regardless your mechanical skill. The AI is significantly better and the campaign is generally better designed.

Very likely one of the best 10 games made in the last 20 years. You can play it casually, then throw it away, or you can go WAY deep - watching the masters duke it out, fighting over millions in prize pools, getting all the achievements, mastering your own game, streams... Games with this success are few and VERY far between!

It’s funny you point out the weirdness of the man’s armor extending his arms a little. This is actually a pretty common problem with the primitive development military exoskeletons today: how do you translate a person’s motion to the larger suit without hyperextending joints and stuff?

The protoss are a telepathic race with physonic abilities. Their minds are all linked their thoughts, emotions, and memories are all one. They can generate physonic energy blades. Their technology gives them very advanced shields, energy weapons, mech suits, robotics, reality warping tech, etc.

So the heart of the swarm cinematic ending ties in with the ending of the wings of liberty campaign. I don't want to spoil too much for ya but if you ever decide to react to all of the cinematics then it will all make sense.

oh starcraft!, a game with an impressive history, which began in 1998, with Starcraft and its expansion: Broodwar I recommend you play it, so you can understand the story, it's very good, even the cinematics of starcraft 2 are very very good, almost like a movie. I understand that the game developers were huge fans of marvel comics, so they made a story that would grab anyone who played starcraft. If you like the RTS genre games, I recommend you give this great game a try. In its time it was very famous, unfortunately now it has a lot of activity, although its multiplayer servers are still online.

Please do not write letters to Hollywood telling them they need to make this as a movie and sending them footage… Do you know what they do to fucking video games when they try and put them on the big screen or even the little screen. Sc2's Coop mode has a surprisingly solid activity. You can queue up a game on the most popular settings and get matched in 2 to 20 seconds! Not bad for a game that's no longer getting paid updates as announced back in Oct. 2020!
