SamuPiano here! (And only a week late to the party!) Thanks for solving my puzzle! Spoilers below: The part with the 5 in box 7 was a deduction I had seen prior to this video, but I thought it better to reward the rook logic in that box. Overall, that was a really nice solve and you spotted the logic with these lines very efficiently!

nice puzzle, lovely thumbnail. I like the "blind-fold" metaphor being used to indicate a "fog-of-war" puzzle is in store!

would be handy if the first chesspiece was named in the description. Looked like a king a pawn and a bishop.

Nah, I thought a pawn for a second, but then I saw the cross That's a bishop. It was the piece in box3 that confused me for a second I was unsure if it was a king or queen Don't some kings not have crosses up top? I couldn't imagine what they looked like.

They should show ALL of the pieces in the rules, I agree.

I did look up in advance what the pictures look like in 2D. Perhaps I’m not the only one not familiar with them, for example.g. Queen looked like King to me with a crown, but apparently they’re standardised.

@@SudokuSleuth yeah, there are some older sets that have a cross on top of king (I guess they did away with that for woodworking purposes), some kind of crown, you're right. I actually had to wait for you to say what it was. It's like your thumbnail though, a pointy delicate crown on the queen. I should have looked at your thumbnail, being I couldn't picture the king. 😅😅(

How the pieces show up depends on your device and more specifically the fonts available to your browser. Adding the chess pieces to the rules however means that the same symbol is used in the grid and in the description which I agree could improve the clarity. Thanks for that feedback!

A little slower. Usually fog is quicker, but this one hid some tricky logic where I had rule out sets one at a time from the lines. As usual, the fog guides you nicely, but still, not as easy as other fog variants. Took me 67 minutes and at 50 minutes in I paused the tv so I could focus on the logic for the puzzle more. I'm slowly starting to get the logic on these chess lines quicker, but yeah. Fun. Thanks.

That four at the end of row two was neglected and crying for so long! lol Also, I too found that last tip hanging out of the fog so useless and surprising. It only gets used much later, which is odd for a clue reveal from the fog. Almost all my logic flowed the same, just the end took a little longer because I didn't continue with the parity. I only used it on the lines, so seeing where to unravel it from that last useless tip was much harder for me. :)

48:49. A FoW puzzle at its best. Incredible eye for detail needed here. I can't even start to imagine how to construct such a puzzle. Magnificent is an excellent description for this puzzle.

More chess lines! I solved this back in testing and already knew this puzzle would take off back then. It has some slower/harder parts but all of them are fair and just require you to take a breath and focus on the limited area you are working on. I love puzzles where constructors are so precise with planning the fog-reveal to chop up the puzzle into bite-sized pieces.

That was fun (yeah, once I got my head around it), these chess piece moves adjacent on a line, wreck your head. Thanks, Slueth, you got your head around that "numbpad" (number pad), and helped me out early on. Cool one 😅 (Yeah, as ^^ I'm wiping sweat from my brow.. lol)

How do you assume the 3/4 pair in box 9 goes left to a 9. It could also be an 8 to the right?

"Chess lines: All gray lines have an image of a chess piece in the leftmost cell of the topmost row containing the line." I had been wondering about this, too.

Need to fix scanning skills, the 2 and 4 in box 1 were resolved at 16:17 mark of the video. This has an impact to box 7 to resolve the center digit of that box.

Whoa, this one was a very nice fog sudoku. Of course that I got stuck and your help in box 3 ( I was only thinking about bishops, pawns and knights) was determinant for my solve, but I enjoyed it a lot 😅 Thanks for solving this puzzle! 😊

44:22 minutes, finding the best moves along the way ^^ enjoyed it very much. I had to check out the video to remind me of the "leftmost cell of the topmost row"-rule to get me the clue that r1c9 had to be a queen, but the rest was a nice flowing solve. Vey impressive @setter.

Neat parity logic at 10:40 onwards; I never thought to use parity in my solve, it would have sped things up quite a bit. As it was I did a fair bit of brute force iteration through all the possibilities.

Same at 18:00. I drew myself an 8-1-6-7-2-9-4 line to map out the possible knight moves not involving a three, then renban-style concluded that 6+7+2 had to be on the length-5 line, with 7 limited to column 8.

Think I didn't understand something here, why did the top rightmost cell have to be 6 and not 8 please?
@SudokuSleuth
@SudokuSleuth 3 ай бұрын
There was an X just to the left of it. With the 4 placed, you had to use the 2/8 on the X, leaving a 6.
