Interesting list. As a visually impaired person, the three main things I keep in my bag are my folding cane, a monocular, and a very bright, small LED flashlight. I used to keep a lighted hand magnifier, but my phone serves that purpose these days.

Thank you for your videos they really helped me a lot specially the white cain instructions and getting around with it. I am totally blind and i use my iphone with Voice Over and screen curtain On with velcro on the back of the cover of the phone so i can stick it to the shoulder strap that just loops around my chest and hooks to my belt. This way i have my phone close my upper right shoulder actually facing up side down so the speaker is eaiser to hear. Also i have a single sided head/ear piece that keeps one ear free for surroundings and noises. I really like the shoulder strap this way it keeps my hands free and i can make or take calls while walking and still using the white cain and having one hand still free :) , thanks again for your videos greets Mak , anchorage alaska

I first ran into your videos as a Facebook group. Not 100 channel. I will be subscribing and I am actually working with an orientation and recovery specialist. We’ve been meaning meaning to Tryon the Dakota dead. Haven’t gotten a chance. I’ll have to remind. I do a lot of my girlfriends from church That I’ve known since I was a baby and I’m currently 17 at the time I’m writing this comment. I use a lot of voice type, so please excuse the typos. I am a very heavy visual impairment which it’s to wear my eye doctor wishes he could declare me legally blind. I use a rolling marshmallow on my cane. I’ve had my cane since right before Covid hit, and that actually started my ONM journey because we didn’t realize I had that bad of a visual impairment until eighth grade. I’m doing great and still forget to use McCain when I need it.

Red LED hat light, or head light and retroreflective stickers like 3M SOLAS. The red light doesn't disturb night vision like white light does, it isn't as obtrusive to other people, but when it strikes a retroreflective sticker, the red light shines brightly, but only in the direction the light came from, like roadsigns. Stickers go on BBQ grill handle, shed door lock, handles of yard tools, boat gunwales, dock edges, fishing pole, robot lawnmower. Easy to identify the bright red object when scanning the yard. Small retroreflective ground stake identifies where driveway or walk meets the street, or unexpected drop.

Hi, great video and informative. To clarify, is this what you keep with you on your person or just in general? If it’s general, could you do a video about what you keep in your backpack if you carry one? The things you keep on you from lesson to lesson? One of my mobility instructors always had disposable ponchos and mini umbrellas with her.

I'm 20/100. Don't know if that will change. I was born visually impaired, but I don't know what happened for me to loose my vision. I just have been using a cane. I have little to no peripheral vision on the right side of my right eye. I don' t know if that is enough to use a cane, but i do use one, because i loose things when i turn my head. The one eye dr thought my condition could be progressing, but I am not sure, it's been around 20/100 for the last few months.. since about Sept. =]]]

Where do you get solar shields? Do they change as the sun gets brighter? I was thinking of getting dark glasses for the sun, it hasn't bothered me lately to much, but normally the sun bothers me a lot! :O

I was able to get the bump dots through work but they can be found on Amazon or other sites online. And the tape I bought on Amazon. Hope that helps. Let me know if you have more questions.
