20:07; "But I just love the inclusion of an immortal. So you can have a throughline." So, in a show that flashes backward and forward in time constantly, you might call him.... the constant?

When I watched Episode 12 of this season, I had a certain theory and suspicision. And then the end of this episode with Locke saying he's gonna kill Jacob confirmed it for me. Imagine coming up with a crazy theory and waiting to see whether its true or not, especially if you've had another crazy theory that tied to that one since the very first season. The Final Episode of this season man...I was smiling like crazy by the end. Bloody brilliant. Especially when you go back and notice all the hints. And another reason why LOST is one of the best and greatest TV Shows ever made.

So almost at the end of the season and yet no mention of the concept of "bootstrap paradox". The fact the Pierre sends away his wife and son as per the information of his own older son is quite a starter. Really want to see the reaction of the finale and the premiere of next season... quite the twists there.

Have you two ever considered to do reactions to Damon Lindelof's The Leftovers? In away, I think Lindelof perfected some storytelling techniques from Lost.

Great observation by Eric about Phil's demeanor after he hit Juliet. And I don't think I ever thought about Rick's point that killing Charles Widmore would be an easier route to changing things instead of detonating a nuclear bomb! 😄

I watched two episodes of that show but I thought it was really lackluster. Does the rest of the show change or are the first episodes representative of the rest?

@@StillRooneyStarcraft As the show goes on, it the themes and concepts are very similar to Lost, as its written by Damon Lindelof (the head writer of Lost). The first season of The Leftovers is based off of the book. The other 2 seasons is Lindelof's interpretation of how the book would have been if it continued.

@@StillRooneyStarcraft Bro trust me. Give this show 9 episodes. 9th one is the one that hooks people in. It is a slow burn but takes off after that. FOR ME it is the best show i have ever seen

The media narrative with this show, and every show that has attained a transcendent level of popularity since - Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones etc… is that the series endings were terrible. And if you talk to people who spend a significant portion of their lives online (specifically younger generations), chances are they’ll repeat that narrative, almost verbatim. But most of the people I’ve spoken with had positive reactions to all those endings, and even if they didn’t, they did not let their opinion of the final scene, or episode, or season ruin their overall opinion of the show. So regarding Lost… I, for one, enjoyed the entire ride.

I'm afraid Eric has it a little wrong. The people The Monster flashes DO NOT see the flashes of their life. The Smoke Monster see's that. He's looking into their pasts. The people it's flashing sees flashes of light ONLY, as we saw from Juliet's perspective. She was shocked by and almost blinded by it in the dark night. Eko was not blinded by it, as he saw it during the day. John ALSO saw "a very bright light", which he described as "it was beautiful". It wasn't some mysterious beautiful image he was shown. If YOU saw something which came to you and started to do a flashy light show, would you not also describe it as beautiful? It was no different. It was of course the same flashes we saw both Eko and Juliet experience. One must presume The Smoke Monster also did the same to Jack, maybe while he was asleep? Dunno about that one. Coming down into a submarine to ask some friends for help IS NOT is love triangle! For fucks sakes hahahaha. I don't understand how people read into so much which isn't there. There is a history of a love triangle, yes, which is why it's awkward, but that's not anyone in that trio's motivation. Surprised you guys didn't bring up the fact that being asked who the president was is Exactly what Hurley he told Sawyer would be the question which would get him found out as a time traveler.
@darla8962 жыл бұрын
I would are agree, except that Eko told Locke “I saw the devil,” so exactly what did he see? Not unless the smoke was so close to Eko that he actually ONLY saw into the darkness, and not the brilliant light-

So what's up with Richard saying he watched them all die? Can anybody explain?
@darla8962 жыл бұрын
Great catch!! I’m assuming this is the first time you are watching the series so I won’t spoil, but Richard is saying that he saw everyone die on the island in 1977 when the bomb exploded. This is also why the final “LOST” title screen at the end of the episode goes white instead of black for the first time in the series. I’m hoping you’re seeing the full versions of the episodes. They are so great!

@@darla896 Thank you so much for the thoughtful reply! I stayed away from these comments until I had finished the series, but the second I did, I looked through the comments because I'm still thinking about so many things. And this was one of them. Two other things that I can't stop thinking about: (SPOILERS --->) What, in the end, was up with Walt? And what exactly is the meaning of the numbers? I can't wait for Rick and Eric to finish everything, because I'm sure Eric can explain a lot of things to me that I'm still unclear on. Absolutely loved the series! Edit: Oh, and also, wouldn't Richard see them disappear back into their own time rather than die? The way I understood it was that when the bomb detonated, they disappeared just like they did when the flashes happened before, but everyone else was unaffected or at least lived enough to build the hatch etc after the detonation
@darla8962 жыл бұрын
@@Jaaol1 I believe they may have finished the series, maybe not, but not to spoil for anyone watching with them, I can at least expound upon your first question. It was clear that some characters were “special.” Now, obviously everyone fights about who is special and who is not based upon their favorite character, but the truth is only some are truly “special.” I think Eloise and that psychic were the most obvious, but on the island you will notice Hurley and Miles, Desmond and suspect Walt. I noticed Locke, Eko and Ben on second watch. Then on second watch I figured Walt couldn’t control his “abilities”- first the episode with his step dad and the picture of the bird, then the dead bird after he got mad, then the polar bear came after he got mad at Michael. He had something he couldn’t control. Then after all the talk of seeing things in his minds eye, the strange questions from Mrs Klugh and when Ben said he was more than they bargained for in Season 1 or 2. It sounded like astral projection. He was talking to John in “his dreams” but was he really?
