Actually Neo's power does make sense even if he is not the one because in the first movie he infused himself with Smith, meaning their codes began to mix. Smith gained Neo's power to infect others, and Neo gained the power to control portions of the Matrix.

The oracle never said Neo wasn't the one! She tells him that he has the gift, but it looks like he's waiting for something. His next life maybe. That is exactly what happens. Neo dies, then gets resurrected, and then becomes the one! She even tells Neo that he is the one in Reloaded. Neo is the one, and always was, not Smith. Smith only became so powerful, is because of Neo's code imprinted onto him. This Agent Smith theory of being the one is so ridiculous its laughable.

I know I’m super late on this video, but it seems “the one” is Neo and Agent Smith becoming One. They did it in the first movie which was the catalyst, then they did it in the last movie and returned the code to the system. They were both needed, but it only worked because they became one. So Neo is special, because out of the six iterations he was able to get Agent Smith where he needed to be.

If I remember correctly the *Architech* is the *FATHER*/CREATOR of the Matrix, he was created by the machines to design a submissive way to maintain humanity calm while extracting energy from them. It worked for the 99% of the population except for the rest that felt that "something wasn't right" (real), consequently making the first version of the Matrix a failure due to that unstability. That is why, in the next versions of the matrix, the *ORACLE*/MOTHER was created to fix it. She gave the ability of *Choice* to humanity if they wanted to leave the Matrix, giving them the chance to build Zion. Under this new threat, the machines would have to destroy the city (there has been many cities including Zion) unlimitedly to avoid a human revolution against machines.

This gave me a headache lol. What we do know is that in the other 6 iterations of the Matrix, the ONE's code was disseminated into the Source without interference from Smith. Things went smoothly according to the Architect. We know the Oracle wanted things to change at the onset of the current iteration. The One is a systemic anomaly. The Architect speaks of the anomaly and the One as being the same. Smith was not the ONE in the other iterations. What we don't know is how much the Oracle interfered. It could go much further than just telling a lie about who the One is. That, in itself, would not make Smith turn rogue, nor would time. There was a purpose for Smith's actions, not just happenstance, or by chance. Why did Smith have this sudden urge to separate from the Matrix at that particular time? Why at the time that the Oracle was sick of the status quo? Could it be that the Oracle threw a monkey wrench into his programming? In the other iterations, the ONE was the big problem ( he could change things in the Matrix), but in the current iteration SMITH is the one changing the Matrix. Does that make him the One or is this just because the Oracle manipulated his programming, making it unnecessary for Neo to be the one changing things in the Matrix. Because Smith's actions changed, Neo's did also. He had to deal with Smith in a different way than the ONE did in the previous 6 iterations. The Oracle wanted Smith to be the problem because that would give Neo ( the humans ) a bargaining chip. That's all this is about, giving them something they could use to bargain for Zion. However, I think Neo was still the systemic problem, the One.. Smith was a problem/anomaly created by the Oracle, he was not systemic. . I think it's important to remember that the Matrix we saw was the 7th iteration and not a faithful interpretation of what happened in the first 6, which went smoothly , according to the Architect. The Oracle had a big hand in shaping what transpired during the iteration we saw. When the Oracle started interfering, everything changed.

Um, the answer is in front of all of us. Remember, this was the 6th version, so it implies that a program like Smith has gone rogue before. The "One" speaks to a program like Smith AND someone like Neo that can stop him. The Oracle is the puppet master and if you watch the trilogy again, you will see her in a completely different light. She is basically the Keyser Söze of the whole franchise because she orchestrated everything from within the Matrix and was essentially a rebel. The Matrix is a program and despite there being different versions, an anomaly was always possible. That is why we kept hearing how everything that happened has happened before. And it should happen again, except under different circumstances in the real world. The Oracle's plan influenced the real world, but the rules would still apply in the Matrix since it only rebooted. So, if they decide to make another trilogy, it could easily be done with the rebooted Matrix and another program like the Architect and the Oracle orchestrating a new plan. As far as the Matrix films goes, the most important characters were the Oracle and the Architect, but everyone was focused on Neo, who was essentially an anti-virus.

From what I remember, Smith is not, in any way, working against his programming in the Interrogation Scene - he speaks in metaphor a bit because when he's talking about "getting free" he's really talking about fulfilling his purpose as Agent and securing The Matrix against the rebels/hackers because if he can crack Morpheus and get the codes to Zion's mainframe they can crush the resistance once and for all, thus ending the need for Agents to secure The Matrix. His aim of freedom was to simply not exist anymore. Also, Neo manipulates The Matrix constantly, bending some rules and breaking others - I think one of the most pointed examples of his manipulating The Matrix is his saving Trinity. I believe The Architect, or someone, actual underscores Smith's existence as being, in a way, antithetical to Neo - he's something of an echo of Neo and his particular code (probably passed on in some way when Neo interacted with his code and destroyed his digital body), an opposite. Neo is most definitely "The One" with Smith being a tenuous addendum thanks to their particular interactions (and Smith's ultimate choice to not return to The Source himself).

Neo was plugged into the Matrix via a machine interface. When Smith infected Neo It allowed the Machine control program access to a copy of what the smith virus was in full and could then scan/purge all that code. That's how Smith lost.

Her job is to supply the "one" with the information that would drive him to become the one and fulfill his destiny. weather or not the one in neo or smith she still supplies both of them with information/misinformation which drove them to the final confrontation which is what she was programed to do.

I think a big clue smith is the one in the lining of his suit in the first film. In later films Neo/Smith was shown in gold code, as Opposed to the regular green code everything/everyone else is. In the first film, Smith has a gold lining to his suit, something as far as im aware no other agent have. You could argue Neo was only shown in gold code as Smith imparted some code onto him, not the other way round. Could his having this gold lining, an anomoly in itself compared to the other agents, be a clue that Smith is actually the one? In reloded when Neo meets Smith, Smith tells him after he was destroyed, he knew what he had to do, and he knew the rules, but was compelled to resist. Perhaps this was the point his code was supposed to return to the source, and as the architet said, previously this had happened without issue. Once this didnt happen, that's when this itteration of the matrix started to unfold unlike the others? Other points the theory argues make sense, such as being born in the code, like a program is. After all, Mr Anderson is still only human...

I never see anyone make the leap that THE MEROVINGIAN was a "ONE" in a previous version but chose to stay in the Matrix after his function was complete. I jumped to the same conclusion that "SMITH" was also a "ONE" in the first version. I'm also a firm believer that Morpheus isn't human. He's a program jacked into a human body and is a pawn of the Oracle. Just look at the history behind the name of his ship and that should clue you in.

There are multiple one's. Neo is the one in the universe with Zion. Zion is not in base reality. The architect even said it, "This is the 6th time we've destroyed Zion." Morpheus questions if this was a dream and in fact, Morpheus saw his ship being destroyed in a dream. Deja Vu. That glitch in the matrix, is Morpheus remembering the exact same events unfolding in the alleged base reality, 6 other times. If Neo had chosen the other door, then everyone in Zion would be reloaded into the once removed matrix within a matrix. Nobody in the movie transcended the Zion reality. And nobody actually understands what Base Reality even is, except maybe the Architect, which may or may not be a program.

One major flaw with this theory is... If Smith was the one and he existed through all the different phases of the matrix then he would have had to reset the matrix five other times in the past. Assuming that ai's don't age, that would mean he should have had all the prior knowledge of shutting down the matrix.

If the Oracle created Agent Smith, she may have altered his program every time the Matrix was reloaded. Only allowing Agent Smith to know how much he needs to, in order to fulfill the prophecy. Also, I am sure there will be more versions of the Matrix. Because in The Matrix Revolution, The Architect ask the Oracle, " Just how long do you think this peace is going to last?" The Oracle replies, "As long as it can." Insinuating peace will be finite, until chaos ensues again.

Actually, another way to look at "why" those specific Programs go rogue. (From the end discussion.) Think about it: You a being that ONLY follows Rules. And EVERYTHING has a Rule. But, take another look at those Programs. The Architect: The Program who built literally everything except the Oracle. (As he even says "If I am it's "Father", then SHE......would undoubtedly be it's "Mother." The Oracle: The Program can see the Code so well that she can forsee events, and the ability to diverge from said events. The Merovingian: The Program that had the power to survive Resets, along with the power to save a few others who he "employed." The Keymaker: The Program who has access to literally EVERYTHING from the Matrix EVER, with the power to KNOW where everything ever is at, the exact paths to them, and being others with him. Agent Smith: The Program who can actually choose to not listen, before outright changing the Matrix. None of them are Standard Programs. They ALL have a shared ability of being Programs who can decide AGAINST the Rules. And are able to manipulate the Matrix itself, one way or another. Of course they'd go "rogue." If you looked at it as Programs being Greeks, then all of the Rogue Programs shown, are essentially the Greek Pantheon of Gods.

there is a flaw in his conversation when he says that neo wasn't around at the birth of the matrix. he says that it is the sixth version of the matrix and "MR. ANDERSON!" was around. potentially he was. the architect says that neo had five predecessors. when this is mentioned to him, the tv screens in the architects room show neo reacting in different ways. these reactions are most likely the recorded reactions of the five predecessors. the architect goes on to say that they have destroyed the matrix 5 times and that neo must make a choice. to enter the door on the right to save zion by taking 16 females and 7 males and repopulating after the machines have killed zion's inhabitants, or to take the door on the left and save trinity. here's where i fix the flaw that i see. i believe that the five predecessors chose to go through the door on the right and save zion, due to the fact that they did not have a love connection with trinity. the architect further backs up this point by saying that the fix predecessors had a general connection with the people they met, but neo has a stronger connection with trinity, "visa vie love". so the five predecessors gathered 16 females and 7 males from the matrix (the matrix that would be destroyed) and repopulate as the machines built a new matrix. neo would be the man born inside the new matrix (i think this is symbolism because he would be the first person to tell someone inside the new matrix that they are trapped and they wouldn't know where the hell he came from). when his predecessor died, he would return as another version of neo and the process would begin a new. morphius said that the oracle prophesied the one's return, as their would be countless versions of neo until the matrix is reloaded and the machines had lost against humanity. it isn't until the sixth version of neo chooses to go through the left door to save trinity that the entire fate of humanity changes, and he eventually fights smith and saves zion. this is the flaw i see, and i believe this theory resolves it

Okay, Neo being able to affect the world outside the Matrix is the same reason that Smith is more powerful. Because Smith imprinted himself on Neo just like Neo imprinted on Smith. Neo jacked into the Matrix through the sentinel that he attacked. It was a backlash.

I think. When Neo copied himself to Smith, Smith stole half of Neos powers. Being reborn as the otherside of The One. So Neo and Smith are two sides of the same coin, both being reborn in the Matrix (twins as you will) Neo seeing the code of The Matrix and Smith altering the code of The Matrix. So Smith does what Neo could do in the beginning. This could also be why Smith calls the Oracle mother, because he is now reborn as half of the one and understands that the Oracle made The One. When Smith copied himself to Neo, he reconnected the power of The One. And since Neo was already connected to the source, The Matrix rebooted. So The One served it's purpose. The Oracle's big game was that she intended for the power of the one to split in half so she could save both the Matrix AND the humans.

In reality both Neo and Smith were "ONE" not "THE ONE" but in most movies we don't comprehend the "bad guy's" ideals. Instead we see them as heros vs villains i.e. adversaries due to social programming and moralization, which plays no role in the spirit realm. Nearly all Superhero and Zombie movies distort the truth of ancient mythos. Religion itself is a fabrication of ancient spiritual science in the form of mythologies. In the Matrix movies, Neo was having an inward journey to his "True Self" via his MIND and agent Smith was nothing more than his doppelganger or for better word his "Evil Twin" or "Shadow Self". Hence, Neo's name is Thomas meaning "twin". However, at the end of the trilogy they were united or fused into one entity becoming "One". You can say Smith symbolizes many things such as Neo's lower self or even his ego and Neo can also represent Smith's humanity etc. However, Smith must not be seen as an adversary to Neo like Jesus and Satan because before the Old Kingdom of Egypt both Horus and Seth were ONE in the character of Sut-Har, as child of the great mother in pre-dynastic times. Twin flames to be exact! or God and Devil opposite side of the same coin or Darkness and Light. These are energies! Remember in the first Matrix Neo was basically searching for the truth and he was freed by Morpheus, Greek god associated with sleep and dreams (Pineal Gland secrete hormones causes sleep & wake). You'll discover that you can interpret every character as an aspect of one man's consciousness in the same way ALL villains in the Batman comic books represents certain aspect of his True Self, as BATMAN (his Soul or shadow self). Thus, Thomas Anderson was looking at him self in the mirror before tumbling down the rabbit hole becoming Neo in Zion. The problem is inside of him, which he sees as something external (Life is an outward projection of the Soul or a series of event that doesn't exist). Neo represent his conscious self (Horus=Light) and Smith represent him communicating with his shadow self/ Soul/subconscious mind (Seth=True Self=Darkness), who wants to be free so badly from the Matrix/matter/demiurge/god of creation/Humanity/Body. This is called the monstrous Soul who represent the mythologic/comics hero as Warriors (all Horus, Hercules, Thor,, Krishna & Hulk ever do is kick ass), contrary to the loving Jesus of the four gospels but more so of the anti-Christ of revelation i.e. "Dark Christ". For it is said he will return with a sword to inflict judgment. The point of the entire movie, like the Gnostic concept, was to destroy the physical world or matrix which is an Illusion (Maya) but Hollywood love to thwart and redirect our consciousness towards saving humanity as Neo stopped Smith, when its not about that in the end times (eschatology). Shit even the Bible states Heaven and Earth will pass away and in the apocrypha book of 2nd ESDRAS, god reiterate the same sentiment as well regarding the fate of humanity. A caterpillar does not emerge from the cocoon as a caterpillar but Butterfly. Every movie the bad guy gets defected so good can prevail and like Thanos they are cast aside as "MAD MAN" as he himself stated in avengers infinity war. Neo was having an inward battle with him self and when smith won he was going to destroy all humanity within the matrix, Zion (another form of the matrix=Astral Plane) and even the machine world with it's architect. This would have happen if Neo wasn't blinded by his humanity and made a deal with the Source. Then Smith would have did his thing because the true metaphysical concept of "Christ" is not a consciousness at all but rather a Subatomic Nuclei Particle that destroys the vessel (body) that it is in and the known universe. Its a cosmic time bomb (atomic bomb) and like agent Smith, a rogue virus. Christ is a foreign object like a cancer or virus that has been planted within this universe from the primal world before creation. In layman terms its like the Black Hole. Therefore, when Neo and Smith fused becoming one should have destroyed everything (nuclear Fission/fusion) but instead the matrix was reboot and a next version was started. So in the end all Neo did was DIED like Christ on the cross. He never became what he was suppose to be........... Even though if the franchise continues in the future Neo will certainly be resurrected like Jesus. However, the TRUE RESURRECTION is to leave this world and never return. In Vedic India this is called MOKSHA meaning liberation from the cycle of reincarnation or re-incarceration i.e. doing time on planet earth.

19:40 my best guess is that they just keep evolving and adapting to the point where they are no better than the humans they deem as illogical. It’s evident from the rogue programs and smith that they would eventually develop a sense of individuality and gain emotions/become selfish and feel love (like that program who talked with neo in the train station). At some point they’d have their own creation different from them (like how man created machine; that would turn on them and the cycle would repeat all over again.

This theory does make sense because the Machines/the Matrix itself needed Neo to help destroy Smith. In the end, it was Agent Smith who began infecting/controlling the Matrix from the inside. He was the greatest anomaly. Kill Smith and The Matrix resets. Ask yourself this question: Why did The Matrix ask Neo for help if he’s the “one” who will destroy the system? Simple. He is not the one. Agent Smith could continue making copies of himself, kill Neo and eventually corrupt the entire Matrix. Neo was a sacrificial lamb to access Smith’s code. Hence deleting Smith, killing Neo and rebooting the program.

I understand what he's saying about Neo being able to use powers outside the matrix but you have to mention that agent smith was able to escape the matrix. If you ask me, the ability of a computer program to overpower the brain of a human being and be able to take over the person once the are disconnected from the matrix sounds like a "the one" power to me. He wanted to escape the matrix. He created a way to do that. Imagine if all those copies of him at the end of the movie would have escaped.

If this theory is true, my best guess would be that when Neo imprinted on Smith, Smith also imprinted some of himself on Neo hence his ability to have control of machines outside of the Matrix

If the Matrix reloads, then all those people who were killed in the fighting with agents, and by being taken over by Smith, must be resurrected. Reloading the Matrix is the resurrection. Otherwise it would be impossible. People's Matrix personality is based on the personality and identity patterns coming from the physical humans in the pods. You can't just re-write that, that's why the animals in the pods die when their Matrix identity is killed. So for the Matrix to be reloaded after all those people were killed would leave a huge area of uninhabited city and landscape about the size of Australia. That would be an impossible mystery that would cause all the Matrix population to question their reality. So for the reloaded Matrix to work, all those people have to be resurrected, which means that they have a way to revive the minds and the bodies they belong in. The other big issue is that all Mat Pat's speculations are based on the observation that Neo's supposed ability to rewrite the Matrix as he sees fit only ever happens outside the Matrix, that the outside is another, better, semi-physical simulation (hardly impossible since 01 has been building and rebuilding Zions for some time). But his assumption that what Neo does outside the Matrix is physically impossible, and that therefore it is all another simulation, and Neo himself is just another program, is based on overlooking what intelligent life is, on the one hand, and how the humans and the Matrix interact, on the other. So my point is, it is entirely in keeping for woke Neo to reprogram reality since the way the Matrix works is for the human mind and the simulation to interact with each other digitally. The humans are not just passively experiencing a simulation, but they interact with it, to live within the Matrix they are continually uploading, and already talking to the simulation in code, in programming language, automatically, without realising, because brought up within the simulation they learned to directly program, to speak to the simulation in code the same way they learned to breath and move and choose when to defecate. So of course Neo can redesign the Matrix atround himself, so potentially can everyone, and of course he can infect Smith and Smith can infect him, and anyone else, once he realises. To human consciousness it would seem to be being done by faith. The real time sensation would be that you decide to believe, and to wish that such be so, and it becomes so, because that is the sensation of interacting into the Matrix in the programming code you subconsciously learned in infancy. And seeing it as faith, and adopting faith, seeking faith, having faith, would be the way to do it. Concentrating hard, trying to parse it out logically line by line would be too slow, and too difficult, the simulation, and the other programs would move away from your effort to alter them faster than you could think it out. So since the world outside the Matrix is also a form of simulation, since the planet is dead, and all that remains is ruins and the machines and what they choose to build, including Neo and everyone else in Zion who they genetically designed and selected (there has been no natural selection or natural sexual reproduction since the machines took over), then of course woke Neo's ability to directly write and rewrite simulation code overflows into those aspects of the physical outside world which are also virtual, and allow him to mess with machines and human beings outside the Matrix, because both the people and the machines are running that same programming language. That is the meaning of no spoon. Not only is nothng inside the Matrix real, but neither are half the apparent rules about what is supposedly possible and impossible in the physical world outside the Matrix, which is also artificial, both the ruins, which are man and machine made ruins, and Zion and everything affecting Zion, including the squids, which are machine made. The humans living in Zion and using Zion-tech assume what we believe to be physically possible and impossible, because that is what they believe. They believe Newton and Einstein and quantum physics rule as they do for us, because they don't realise they are in a physical simulation with virtual elements, and believing that what is impossible for us is impossible for them, they don't try. They lack the faith to try, and all the Zion citizens who were not born under the Matrix don't have that reflexive knowledge of the programming language through which to mess up the machines. Or, Neo is just built with wireless access, with a wireless router in his skull, and he's just pinging all those squiddies without realising. But the effect is the same.

Hmmmm, if they needed Neos' code to be reinserted then when he went to Machine City wouldn't that have been enough? They get his code and BOOM, reset. But no, they needed Smiths code to reset. Even if Neo would have chose the other door and reinserted himself it would have done nothing to Smith. It had to be Neo going in to fight him and lose for the REAL code to be reinserted. I have to say that was VERY clever.

Just to mention a flaw to your flaw in this theory. You mentioned that Neo was able to jack into the matrix unplugged. Well technically it wasn't the matrix he jacked into but a Neutral waystation. He was let into the matrix when they came in and threatened Marivingie. However remember that Smith was able to leave the matrix via the phone, and jacked into a person in the "real" world.
