Fun fact: While never said in the movie, it's pretty much confirmed that Shimo causing the Ice Age is what ended up freezing Ghidorah in Antarctica. She likely caused it while Godzilla and Ghidorah were battling and either she was a participant or farther away. Also a sad theory is that the crystal on Skar King's whip came from Shimo's offspring that the Skar King killed. The crystal is likely meant for the offspring to vibrate in order to alert the mother it's in danger which causes the pain in order to get Shimo's attention.

I thought Godzilla attacked Kong in Egypt because he knew an attack by the apes was coming and then the timing of Kong resurfacing and seemingly challenging him again made Godzilla think that he'd sided with Scar King. And Mothra saving Kong from him is what made him realize what was actually happening. Maybe I'm wrong..

Shimo is the largest land-based titan that has appeared on screen in the Monsterverse movies so far. Even though she spends most of her time on all fours, she can also stand on two legs, a bit like a Komodo Dragon. She is bigger even than Ghidorah. Also, according to the special effects people who worked on the film, she was the hardest monster they've ever had to create due to how much detail went into it.

Godzilla really does seem to operate on the three strikes rule. Scylla was on that third strike. And Kong apparently was too in Egypt. I might be wrong but I figured Godzilla attacked Kong in Egypt because he knew a problem with the apes was coming and the timing of Kong appearing to challenge him again made Godzilla think that Kong had allied himself with Scar King. And it wasn't until Mothra intervened that he realized Kong was actually OPPOSING Scar King. This is why I don't think Godzilla and Kong will fight again. I think they finally understand each other..

I love this movie so much. Its such an example of 'fuck it, we ball'. Lets just make a movie as fun as possible with its premise, while also doing an amazing job at doing it. The long scenes without dialogue with the monsters still have great story telling, the characters in this movie are actually entertaining and interesting as they buy into their own premise without a knowing wink of 'look how absurd this is'. Then they go 'cause its cool lets have them suplex each other' and everyone says 'hell yeah'.

The 10th Anniversary of The MonsterVerse. These iconic titans together have given us nothing but goodness. Kong for 90 years, Godzilla for 70 years and being part of this has been so entertaining. Movie No. 5, GxK is amazingly good. I saw it IMAX 3D with a packed house, opening weekend. The science, history, culture of this universe is vast. Some people go to watch these movies for the battles, but the background of such things are interesting to me and because everything has a reason to exist. The human characters are important (they are). Subtle connections from us to these beasts and beyond aren't just because of the same world, different levels. These Titans are the showstoppers, established or newly introduced, ally or threat. Loved the homages to the classic films with Godzilla's newer colors (Godzilla 2000 from 1999) and Kong's Powerhouse mechanism harnessing energy (King Kong vs. Godzilla from 1962). As for the battles, they are beyond incredible with the effects and Mo Cap, savage yet articulated. After all the hype and success of this film, you gotta wonder what could happen next? So much more they can pull from the classics to add in for this universe. Either way, we want more.

I've been recently rewatching all the Godzilla movies and some other Kaiju films. This movie is weird and goofy, but it doesn't come close to the weirdness that past Godzilla movies get up to. Alien invasions up the wazoo, ancient underwater civilizations, Kaiju drop kicks and blast offs. This movie does weird shit, man, but I love that the Monsterverse isn't taking itself too seriously. I don't mind when it does, but I also want some of that ridiculous sprinkled in.

It would've been nice to have Manda, but Tiamat is cool too.... that is if she wasn't killed by Godzilla Fun fact: Tiamat is the name of the multihead dragon of chaos in dungeons and dragons 35:50 I think throughout the monsterverse Godzilla was going through the errors from showa heisei and now millennium 49:08 yeah Godzilla pretty much likes the Colosseum because it reminds him of his old lair. But yeah, it really is a good spot for him to nap.
