starting off with dream walker is interesting. it's definitely the most ambitious sounding album with them going with an entirely new experimental sound and Ilan Rubin helping out with the new sound. if you want prime AVA it's I-Empire.

AVA is a band full of love, i dont mean only albums called Love 1,2, but their wibe,chords in every album. This one is their most dark. Best AVA albums are their two first albums, albums LOVE 1,2 too cool, other least honestly. This album is also good, but not as good as the previous ones in my opinion.

20:23 the animations is Poet Anderson, and yes it's an original it's was made by Tom's company. The album Dream Walker is for it, since the short film and two novels and graphic novels that goes with it all it's about dreams, and dream walking. Tom with AvA wanted to do a media house. Songs, film, animation, and novels

I’d be interested to hear your reaction to California or Neighborhoods. Neighborhoods was post the first breakup and it sounds like AVA + Blink. California is the first album without Tom Delonge with Matt Skiba from Alkaline Trio being the lead vocalist on that record, it’s actually quite good.

AVA is one of my favorite bands ever and I prefer it to Blink. Tom started it after he left Blink in 2005. It's pure Tom with no compromises that he had to make in Blink. It's more mature, more complex, sophisticated or whatever. I love it. Earlier AVA albums have a different sound than The Dream Walker. This and We Don't Need To Whisper are my favorite ones. I could talk about them for hours but I guess that's enough haha Also, lots of people call it a side project which I don't is fair. Box Car or Mark's +44 are side projects. Each had one album. AVA Has existed since 2005, has 5 albums, some EPs and was Tom's main band for years. I see it as Tom's baby in a sense that it's whatever he wants it to be, it's just his band really compared to Blink where it's the combination of the 3 guys. Not saying there's no team work in AVA Another edit haha. You mentioned Tom sounds different than you're used to. You listened to stuff from 1999-2003 before. (Enema 1999, Box Car 2002, Untitled 2003) The Dream Walker is from 2014. But you're right his voice changed more over the years than it does to most people? Idk Another edit, sorry. I wanted to mention AVA is lyrically more mature than most of Blink. It really started with Box Car when Tom wanted to do something more serious. The lyrcis in lots of their songs are reslly positive and hopeful I'm back again. The Tunnels animation is based on Tom's graphic novel. You can find the full like 20 min animation You know the deal. Kiss With A Spell sounding like Depeche Mode is a great call. I definitely agree. Tom is a huge Depeche Mode fan and I'm pretty sure that was the goal with Kiss With A Spell. I'll preobably come back a few more times, I'm something after he middle of the video Here we go. So "I know this isn't Travis Barker." Fun fact, Ilan (AVA's drummer) had some drumming classes from Travis when he was young Yeah... anyway. You mebtioned The Cure mutliple times. You're absolutely right, Tom's a fan and said they were one of the inspirations for AVA :) Just got to the part where you mentioned U2. Earlier AVA albums have those delay guitars all over them The end. Over time I figured out I'm more of a Tom fan than a Blink fan. I love Blink with Tom, I lo e Box Car, I love AVA (just a little more haha.) Encore moment. I don't get why people say this album is bad.

I was depressed af in HS when AVA was doing so much lol, so 2008. I definitely prefer blink-182 over AVA and it’s not even close. Best albums to me were WDNTW and I-E, it starts to sound very samey after that with Love 1&2, then I stopped caring to bother. This was my first listen as well and though I liked a few songs this was just kinda meh to me.

Tom loves to rip himself off. Paralyzed is nearly the same riff and melody as Rebel Girl. Also his vocal phrasing never has any kind of flow and is almost infuriating to listen to the choppiness in the lyrics. Not to mention the lyrics are terribly cringe. He can get away with it in Blink cause it’s pop punk but in this style of music it doesn’t fit.
