idk if you got a reply but i was told to look for american made as a preferred way to go. not sure which brands are all good but i can tell you that Ibanez, Fender, and Gibson are all great basses (ive played one or two of each) also the Squiers (low end Fenders) are quite nice for a budget, same with Epiphone (low end Gibson). Ibanez usually have affordable prices too
