No pedals, he just uses his pretty simple rig. Triple Rectifier set up with metalish settings (lots of bass and gain) and a light-crunch/clean from the JCM 900 and blends them.

When they used to play it live they would play it a tone up from the recording. The recording is in the Key of G-flat Major and when they play it live they play it in A-flat Major, therefor there can't be any open notes (unless there were accidentals in the song, which there aren't due to how Melodic the song is.)
