Just make sure you're there for them. My best friend was always there whenever I needed confidence. I never felt it was my fault, I guess I was lucky in that respect, but having someone there to say "shit happens," "live YOUR life," "love both your parents, don't judge them, it's their life" and so on really helped me understand & build up my self-esteem. Some pretty awesome scream moments from Tom here, unlike any in recollection. He just needs to find a balance, at moments reigning in the crazy mouth shapes he makes to produce those odd pronunciations--which can be one of the best aspects of his signature vocal sound when utilized tactfully. Often it's the timing that's problematic, rather than pitch or enunciation. Lazy delivery just doesn't suit a punk instrumental.

Early on he used a modded Strat with a Dimarzio at the bridge, later he added a Les Paul to his collection, then the signature Strat happened before moving on to the Gibson.. Never seen Tom play anything with modded P90's or a budget ranged Gretsch.. He might have used different styled guitars for recording the self tiitled album, I've seen footage of him playing a Rickenbacker and a modded Telecaster. His amps nowadays sound crap because he has the speakers bypassed so there's no drumsounds leaking into his guitarsound at the mixingdesk. I've been playing guitar for 17 years now, had a ridiculous amount of guitars and still do. So I like to think that I know what I'm talking about.. Tom actully got me into picking up a guitar in '98
