I bought the Blink XT2 wanting to know if this was a leading competitive product for the home security system and one that would be blow my mind. An excellent wireless camera - very simple to setup and configure, with 120 hours of cloud storage - so need for a Micro SD card!!!
Performance wise I was disappointed with the 7 second lag on the App and a 5 second lag with the Amazon Echo Show. Wasn't expecting such a big lag compared to the other security cameras I have reviewed.

I've had the blink xt and xt2 up and running for about a year now . Yes there is some lag which seems to be the norm with these types of camera . Having a hard wired alarm system that's somewhat relies on others to act if activated I find these cameras have worked without problems and have informed me when any breech of security has occurred. Frankly all I need to know is "is someone in my property or not " and for this I have no complaints whatsoever as they have worked very well.

@@GeekStreet Thanks for a generally useful video. However, I'm sorry but I'm not sure where your '7 seconds' lag claim comes from. In your video it was 3/3.5 seconds at most. If you're editing the video you should make that clear, otherwise please don't just guess.

Try the lag and motion tests on "best" quality. See if the lag is the same maybe? I've read that once it's dropped to best quality this issue goes away. Not ideal but...

Awesome video! I have some Reolink and YI dome cameras. Recently I purchased Blink XT2 cameras just to see what's like, and I am a bit disappointed that there are lags on live view. Night vision is not that great either. Anyways, your videos are very thorough!👍👍👍

Thanks for the comment, I too was really disappointed. I watched other reviews and no-one meantioned the long lag times. I try to show as much as I can in my videos so you can see for yourself if its any good.

Hi GEEK STREET! Awesome review mate! Does the BlinkXT2 detect motion from the inside looking out? I'm highly considering this camera as an option for my ground floor apartment, but after doing some more research I've read the motion sensor does not pick up outside motion through the window?? recently moved into a new house found 1 of these xt2 cameras and was wondering what i need to do to get it up and running. and yes im going to have to order a new power cord as this 1 does not run on batteries and the power cord is missing.

Battery cost, longevity, and leak wise is everything worth doing some battery research on KZbin which is value for money and which lasts longest, i've had duracell in a torch hardly used and battery still working and not leaking ten yrs later,date being on battery, but duracell not necessarily value for money.

Try disabling 5Ghz wifi on your router.

That for me was a disappointing review. I was hoping for a better performance from this camera system. The lag for me is not acceptable. I have arlo and they are crap would not recommend. I am of the opinion that it's best to go for a always on hard wired setup. Mote expensive and could be a pain routing cables but what other choice do you have. Thanks for the comment, I was really gutted as I expected more from it. I watched i number of different reviews and no one mentioned the lag from the camera. I show that in every video people need to know the truth. You are 100% right a wired system is the best to have.

I was very disappointed in this as well for the price close to a ring stick up battery which is solid. It obviously you need a subscription but if you have others I would recommend that. This seems cheap wish I never bought it.

I've got this and you have to set your expectations correctly. You need to remember this thing runs on AA batteries and runs for months! My patio camera is nearly a year without a battery change. It's not designed for live streaming, so don't use it as that, it's designed for motion and it'll never miss! My Arlo missed loads, blink yet to miss a thing. Also the recordings need to be saved before you get the notification on the phone. So if you set recording time to 1min you ring get a notification until after a minute. All in all in it's a brilliant CCTV system for the price.

A I again. Expectations. Blink market as a battery powered camera with two years of battery life. No other camera £30 or £300 runs on that kind of battery life. That is the blink value proposition. I don't want to change batteries every other month like i did with Arlo. So for me it's what I needed. I'm not looking to condescend you I'm just pointing out that if you expect it to act like all the other CCTV systems you'll be disappointed as it is not trying to be that, it's made its own market segment for those who need long battery life.
